A unique learning environment

Asian School of Business has been set up in Trivandrum by patrons with a commitment to provide superior quality business education. The students are chosen on the basis of a rigorous selection process for the two year Post Graduate Programme in Management. The faculty-to-student to ratio is kept high in order to facilitate effective learning.

Campus of Global Standards

Infrastructure: Asian School of Business has just moved to its new campus that combines high technology and eco-sensitivity next to the upcoming Technocity campus at Trivandrum. CPG Consultants - the architects of National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore Changi Airport and Ahmedabad International Airport among others have set up ASB’s new Rs. 63 crore campus in Trivandrum. This will be India’s first LEED-certified Green Building complex and campus.

Board of Governors and Advisory Council: ASB is driven by exceptionally successful professionals committed to promoting the essence of professional aristocracy. ASB has also formed a core group of eminent management teachers and professionals, who as the Advisory Council, help to enrich the initiatives of the School.

The Change Agent

Faculty: One of the factors that sets ASB apart is the quality of its faculty. ASB has a core group of resident faculty with the right mix of academic and industrial experience. Most of the faculty members are IIM graduates and have substantial work experience. This is supplemented by the visiting faculty and practicing professionals from around the world.

The Transformation Process

Curriculum: ASB emphasizes learning by participation and doing. The curriculum delivery is a mix of case studies, group projects and presentations, role-plays and simulations. Students undergo summer internship for 8 weeks after their first year. This is designed and guided by the faculty to ensure maximum learning for the students and adequate benefits for the organization. The curriculum is carefully structured to suit the profile of the incoming students and the requirements of the industry.

Pedagogy - One who triggers the right questions

Public Systems Project (PSP) is an initiative undertaken by the students of Asian School of Business to develop projects with social relevance and economical impact.

The objectives of the project are to:

Efficiently utilize community resources to generate livelihood. �

Strengthen the entrepreneurial skills of micro, tiny and small enterprises. �

Capitalize on the unique strengths of communities to create or expand business opportunities. �

The efforts for the projects get underway in the beginning of the second academic year. With involvement in these projects, students learn to take up initiatives, understand the importance of working towards an objective systematically and above all have an ownership for a viable business proposal. Given below is an overview of the 2009 projects:

Thanal � is a non-governmental organization (NGO) which works towards nature conservation and environmental health. Students developed business plans to analyze the potential of organic farming in Trivandrum, Alappuzha and Cochin.

Kudumbashree � is an organization launched by the Government of Kerala, focusing on women empowerment projects. Students took the initiative to develop business plans for certain entrepreneurial ventures such as mechanized kitchen, mechanized coconut plucking, flower arrangements in offices and janitorial services.

Hospitality Management � – Students worked towards creating a business plan for a hospitality management company that will create a branded chain of mid-range resorts and manage them.

Ayurveda Wellness Centre � – Students crafted a business plan for creating a global Ayurveda brand with a chain of wellness centres.
