About 2.5 hours
Miyajima is an island of 30km around and accessible by ferry for 10 minutes.
Itsukushima Shrine built by Kiyomori Taira in the 12th century is registered as a
World Heritage site. And other historical temples are also wonderful to see. In the
island there are about 500 wild deers, you can enjoy taking photos with them.
Valuable buildings from the Heian and Edo periods remains without being damaged
by atomic bombs since it's 30km west from Hiroshima Central.
Peace Memorial Park used to be city central of Hiroshima and rebuilt after the World War 2. It has many
monuments and museums.
① Peace Memorial Museum
It completed entire renovation and reopened in April 2019. It aims to
convey the reality of the atomic bombing and inhumanity of nuclear
weapons and also shows current efforts to denuclearize in the world.
②Cenotaph
for the A-bomb Victims
Cenotaph in the motif of an ancient Japanese house has a stone chest
which stores the book filled with the names of victims by the atomic
bombing regardless of nationality.
MIYAJIMA Average time 3-6 hours
Miyajima is great place for hiking, too. You can walk up through 3 main trekking
courses to Mt.Misen (530m above sea level) which is also registered as a World
Heritage site. Of course they also have cable car to ride up.

⑤ Atomic Bomb Dome
Former Hiroshima Prefectural Industrial Promotion Hall was
constructed in 1915 and designed by Czech architect Jan Letzell.
Although it was near the hypocenter, it miraculously escaped from full
destruction and now remains as the A-Bomb Dome.

It has portraits of the atomic bomb victims, testimonial videos of the
memoirs and the atomic bomb related books. It exhibits the cutout strata
which you can see the carbonized layer at the time of the bombing in the
layers from the Middle Ages to the present day.
④Children's Peace
Monument
A monument to comfort the spirits of children who died at the atomic
bomb, built in the motif of a girl, Sadako Sasaki who developed
leukemia 10 years after the bombing and died at the age of 12.

One of the world's three major tides has great whirlpool and you can see it up close from
the sidewalks on the bridge or by the sightseeing boat.
Guinness certified it as the world's longest bridge with both motorway and railway. It
has 6 islands and 6 bridges. Enjoy the spectacular view of the Setouchi Inland Sea
driving at 65m above sea level.
One of the world's seven greatest cycling roads from Onomichi to Imabari let you enjoy
the beauty of Setouchi islands through the cycling road along the motorway.
Old castle town centering on Matsuyama Castle is known as a city of modern Japanese
literature themed on Dogo hot spring. Great authors Shiki Masaoka, Taneda Santoka and
Soseki Natsume were born in the city.
Other places around Setouchi Inland Sea
Tomonoura was flourished with pirates culture of Murakami Kaizoku as a port in
Setouchi Inland Sea during the Edo period. You can see remains of the port facility of
historical time that exists only here in Japan.
A town used to be Edo Shogunate territory, and it was a hub of the trade and rice
distribution center. Beautiful merchants' historical houses and storehouses are preserved
along the willow lined canal.
Naoshima is only 16km around, and such small island transformed into tourism place for stunning
origin of Contemporary art and architecture. You can see art works by famous Architect, Tadao
Ando, well known artists such as Yayoi Kusama and others who represent contemporary
architectural art in Japan.
It has a unique landscape that mountains are very close to the Setouchi Inland Sea which
is deep enough to anchor large ships. Kobe is a hub port from the open ocean to Japan.
