Summer Camps Beautiful Oops! Master your mistakes in this workshop based on the book, Beautiful Oops! by Barney Saltzberg. Experiment with scrap paper, smudges, and accidental paint drips to transform mistakes into unique pieces of art! We will exercise our imaginations, share, celebrate, and revel in accidental art together! “When you think you have made a mistake, think of it as an opportunity to make something beautiful!” – Barney Saltzberg Ages 5-7, June 7 – 9, 9 AM – 12 PM $40 members, $45 nonmembers Instructor: Brittany Blackham Exploration through Photography We will explore our world and ourselves through photography. Lessons will include composition, the photo story, portraits and self-portraits. Learning technical skills will be fun as we explore studio lighting, natural lighting and photography with motion. We will learn to paint with light and how to create ghost like images. We’ll even learn to make photographs using the sun. We’ll stay moving with photography walks and other active fun. To keep our minds fresh and engaged and our creativity flowing, we’ll include mindfulness lessons from Mindful Schools daily. Ages 11-18, June 13 – June 17, 9 AM-3 PM $115 members, $135 nonmembers Instructor: Holly Lees African Drum, Dance and Celebration Come on an African adventure as we immerse ourselves in the rich history of drum, dance and song of Guinea, West Africa. You will experience West African drum and dance, food, arts, crafts, and stories. Bring your energy on this expedition exploring West Africa. This is a FUN one! It’s culturally rich and highly educational, as well as physically motivating. Summer camp kids will have the opportunity to be a part of Kulani Kids and perform with the adult West African Drum and Dance group, Kulani, during Ethnic Fest 2016. The last day will include a performance for parents. Ages 7 and up, June 27 – July 1, 9 AM – 3 PM $115 members, $135 nonmembers Instructors: Holly Lees & Gwen Triplin (Kulani Members) at the BOTTLE WORKS! Mindful Art Learn to be in the moment and seize the day while we learn and explore art. Through curriculum lessons from Mindful Schools, we’ll explore stress reductions techniques, learn to pay attention better and other valuable life skills. We’ll combine mindfulness with artistic endeavors such as mandalas, zentangles, color exploration, mindful photography walks and even hand drumming. This workshop experience will allow students to explore writing in a variety of genres including fiction, flash fiction and poetry. Instruction includes free-writing, in-class writing exercises and other warm-up activities, sharing of original creative work, reading and discussing great examples of creative writing, and revision opportunities! Become a part of a writing community! Students will have the opportunity to construct their own handmade paper journals to continue their writing explorations. We will hold a voluntary reading on the last day of camp for parents. Magical Thinking Harness the power to create your own reality! A girl who cries blue pen ink, a man who turns into a seahorse, and a women with a train in her throat! Students will gain insight on how to generate imagery, construct quirky characters, render unique settings, and exercise plot elements. Let’s indulge in our imaginations together. We will hold a voluntary reading on the last day of camp for parents.

Bling! Make Your Own Jewelry!Have you ever wanted to design and make your own Jewelry? This is the class for you! In this hands on workshop you will learn a variety of jewelry making skills such as soldering and stone setting. You will get to work with sterling silver, semi precious stones, and other metals. This summer workshop brings the heat in our newly established Metals Studio. This is a great workshop for any student who wants to work with metals.

Ages 13 and up, July 25 – July 28, 9AM – 3:30 PM $175 members and $200 non-members Instructor: Alyssa Feather

Mini MastersLearn and create like famous artists as you travel through time. Students will explore the Renaissance, Impressionism, Expressionism, Cubism, Surrealism, and many more art periods. Whether it’s painting, drawing, sculpting, or practicing other forms of art, you’re guaranteed to have fun creating masterpieces! This is our fourth summer offering this camp. All new artists and projects! There will be a student art exhibition for family and friends on the last day.

Ages 7-12. August 1 – 5, 9 AM – 3 PM$115 members, $135 nonmembersInstructor: Joanne Mekis

Mega MastersLearn and view art and its history from art periods and artists of the past and present. Teens and adults will create unique art projects based on the techniques and styles of master artists. Impressionism, Cubism, Abstract Expressionism, Renaissance, etc. will be explored. You asked for it and we have made this camp available for our older students! There will be a student art exhibition for family and friends on the last day.

Piano Fun For BeginnersIf you are considering piano lessons for your child, this will be a joy-filled introduction to the instrument! Each day we will play a new song on the piano, do singing and movement activities, play music theory games, and eat a healthy snack. Parents and siblings are invited to a Final Celebration at the end of camp. Maximum of 8 children per camp; each child will play on a full size digital piano.

Mini Camps: July 25 – 27 9:30 AM-11:30 AM — 1st grade1 PM-4 PM — 2nd through 4th grade

Full Camps: August 8 – 129:30 AM-12:30 PM — 2nd through 4th grade 1 PM-4 PM — 2nd through 4th grade

$45 for Mini Camp and $80 for Full Camp, including materials
