STORY OF THE CUVÉEMaurice Drouhin was for many years Administrator of the Hospices de Beaune, and was then Vice-President of its adm-nistrative Commission from 1941 to 1955. At the same time, he ran the Beaune négociant-éleveur Joseph Drouhin.

TERROIRS & DESCRIPTION His generous donation of top vineyards constitutes one of the largest Cuvées of Beaune 1er Cru in the Domaine des Hospices (covering 2.69 ha.). 40% of the land lies in Les Avaux, 25% each being Champs Pimonts and Boucherottes, the balance Les Grèves.

He proposes all wine lovers to buy en primeur (as futures) wines from the Hospcices de Beaune estate at the auction that takes place every year on the 3d Sunday of November. There are two options : to buy a minimum of only 6 bottles within a selection of cuvées or a full barrel (288 bottles) within the 45 cuvées available.
