This is a community issue. If you know of someone using a personal router, please help by asking him or her to turn it off immediately. NOISE CONCERNS — WHAT WORKS & WHAT DOESN’T

While we don’t have “Quiet Hours” at Freddy, we do ask all residents to be respectful of others’ rights to sleep and study at any time of day.

What works…If someone is making too much noise, politely ask them to quiet down. If you need assistance, call the CA on Call. Staff will ask if you’ve tried to remedy the matter yourself. If you need help, staff will assist you.

What doesn’t work…Please don’t bang on ceilings, walls or floors. Face to face commu-

nication is best. If you need help, call the CA on Call for assistance.

Check out the new bike pump and repair station near the southwest entrance to the Community Center. THANK YOU to the Frederiksen Court Community Council, GSB and the Department of Residence for making the bike pump possible.

PROPER TRASH AT FREDDY

Inside the dumpsters please. Not on top and not on the ground.

Not in the round cement containers. Apartment trash goes inside the brown dumpsters.

Please don’t drag leaking trash bags down the carpeted hallways.

Only clean, recyclable materials go into the green and yellow Cy Cytes

REMINDER ABOUT ALCOHOL & SMOKING

If residents are not 21, alcohol should not be in your apartment even if your guests are of age.

Alcohol may not be consumed in hallways or other public areas; only inside apartments as long as residents and guests are of legal age.

Underage drinking or possession is not okay.

Providing alcohol to minors is not okay.

There is NO SMOKING at Freddy…anywhere. This is a state law.

NEED HELP … LET US KNOW … 24/7

Call 515-290-1652 for the CA on Call. During the day the Freddy Office (1010 Community

Center) answers this phone and can help.

CARRY KEYS AT ALL TIMES

Lately it seems we have had an overabundance of people forgetting keys in their apartment during the day. PLEASE remember to carry your keys at all times, especially during the day. Do not expect your roommates to be there to let you back in and DON’T leave your apartment unlocked. Write yourself a note, get a lanyard or even put a reminder on your phone calendar to grab your keys!

NO WHEELS? NO PROBLEM! BE GREEN!

By Sarah Kaldenberg, Freddy’s Sustainability Coordinator If you don’t have a car on campus, don’t fret. Since 2011 ISU has partnered with Enterprise, the car rental company, to provide you with wheels. There are many reasons for using the CarShare

1. You don’t have to pay for a parking permit 2. You can reduce your risk for getting a parking ticket 3. You don’t have to pay for gas, insurance and repairs

The CarShare program has other benefits. It is quick and easy. You have the ability to get to car for as long as you need it. You return it to its location in the parking lot on the corner of Stange and Wanda Daley Dr…right across the street from Freddy. You can reserve the car hourly, for a night or a whole day, for various prices. This covers fuel and insurance while you are driving. There is an annual fee to participate in CarShare, but is just about as much as you would pay to fill up your car once. CarShare is a 24/7 service, so if you have a prob-lem, there is someone to help you. We can become a more sustainable community when we support programs that help to reduce our carbon footprint. Check out the CarShare program today. http://www.enterprisecarshare.com/car-sharing/program/iowa-state

TUTORS NEEDED

The Academic Success Center needs tutors. Tutoring is an excellent way to earn some extra cash, build your communication skills, keep up on your knowledge of complete coursework and help others. This also looks great on a resume. Tutors earn $9 an hour. There are requirements and an application to complete. Go to www.dso.iastate.edu/asc/tutoring/becomeatutor. You can also call 515-294-6624 or email [email protected].
