Senator David Argall is continuing the good Citizenship Award program as presented in the past by Senator Rhoades. The recipients of this award exemplify the qualities of good citizenship through their display of outstanding character, leadership and scholarship. They should demonstrate the willingness to accept responsibility and challenges put forth by the administration and faculty of our school. Students gradu-ating from high school, junior high school and elementary school are eligible. The high school recipients will be announced at graduation.
16 page inserts covering spring events, including prom

Each graduate will be granted a maximum of seven tickets. Graduates are asked to take only what is needed. Every effort will be made to honor requests for additional tickets. Tickets will then be distributed at graduation practices. This formal ceremony is a landmark in a student’s life and we at Mahanoy Area want it celebrated with dignity and poise. Please use discretion in bringing younger children to the ceremony. This year, Daniel’s Photography will capture the moment each senior is presented with his/her diploma. These pictures will be available for parent purchase. Forms will be distributed at practice. As always, please feel free to contact the school for any information or clarification you may need. We want to make these events the most memorable for our students.

The Mahanoy City Public Library is launching its first ever Teen Book Club this summer. Interested students ages 13-17 are welcome to attend the first meeting on Saturday, May 16, 2009 at 1pm at the Public Library. Teens will decide which titles they are interested in reading throughout the summer months. The goal is to meet the third Saturday of each summer month to discuss the book selected for that month. Titles under consideration include: THe Host by Stephenie Meyer, Maximum Ride by James Paterson and Marked by P.C. Cast, but suggestions are welcome. Teens may opt to purchase copies of the books for themselves. Don’t let this opportunity slip away, get involved!
