Beaded Dragonfly Materials:
Three pipe cleaners
11 pony beads
A pair of wiggly eyes
Scissors
(we recommend adult
supervision)
Step 1: Fold one pipe cleaner
in half to form the framework
for the body of your dragonfly.
Step 2: Run 10 beads up the pipe cleaner to build the body of the dragonfly.
Step 3: A) Take one pipe cleaner and cut off 1/2”. B) Form it into a circle overlapping the
ends. C) Twist the ends together.
Step 4: Slide the circle over the dragonfly body to the top of the beads.

Step 5: Pinch in the middle to form a pair of wings. Twisting each wing twice to keep it tight.
Step 6: Take your last pipe cleaner and form another circle with the ends overlapping so you
can twist it together.
Step 7: Slide this circle over the body to rest just above the first pair of wings.
Step 8: Pinch the circle in the middle like you did in step 5. Twist each wing twice again to
tighten them. (shape and form the wings to your liking. The top pair should be slightly larger
than the bottom.)
Step 9: Apply the final bead to help hold the wings on.
Step 10: Roll the two ends of the first pipe cleaner in a circle to form the head.
Step 11: Peel the back off stick on wiggly eyes.
Step 12: Apply wiggly eyes.
