Before you leave on vacation, please contact the Credit Union so we can place a note on your account. If we do not know that you are traveling and suspicious activity shows up on the account, your Debit Card may be blocked. Calling our Card Services Department prior to your departure will ensure your trip goes smoothly.

FOREIGN TRAVEL NOTIFICATION FOR DEBIT

AND CREDIT CARDSDue to an increase in fraudulent activity, all foreign Debit and Credit Card transactions have been blocked. Therefore, you are not able to use your Debit or Credit Card at ATMs or stores outside of the United States unless a temporary release is applied.

If you are traveling to another country and would like to use your card, please contact the Card Services Department at 757.416.6161 prior to your trip.

Congratulations to nine-year-old Mackenzie whose entry was randomly selected as the the 2015 National Credit Union Youth Month coloring winner! Mackenzie and her mom, Krystal, dropped by the Thalia Branch to claim her prizes which included:

Each year, your Credit Union awards two $2,500 education scholarships based on academic achievement, extracurricular activities and commitment to the community. Please join us in congratulating this year’s winners, Kelsey Donahue and Davis Schmudde.

Kelsey is a graduate of First Colonial High School’s Legal Studies Academy and will be continuing her studies at Old Dominion University. She plans to major in Political Science and eventually become a personal injury attorney. She achieved Honor Roll each quarter of her high school career and was recognized as a 2014 Legal Studies Academy Honorary Graduate. Throughout high school, she was very involved in District Chorus, served as SCA Representative, was part of the Foreign Policy Work Group and was a LSA Leadership Mentor and FCHS Kick-Off Mentor. In the community, she has volunteered her time at St. Gregory the Great School/Church, helped raise funds for breast cancer research and, most recently, served as an intern for Rigell for Congress, all while working part-time at Farm Fresh as a cashier. Kelsey was also selected as a Jack E. O’Connor Scholarship recipient.

Davis is a recent graduate of Cape Henry Collegiate School where he was very involved with Academic Team and Theater Club. He received the Faculty Award which is given to the senior who, in the opinion of the faculty, has improved in academics as reflected in attitude. He participated in JV Soccer and Basketball and competed at the Varsity level in Track and Cross Country. In addition to his academic studies,

Davis has volunteered with Meals on Wheels through Virginia Beach United Methodist Church for the past eight years. This fall, Davis will head to the University of Mary Washington where he will major in Economics/Business with a minor in Political Science with the goal of one day owning his own company.

Both Kelsey and Davis exemplify the values of leadership, integrity and service upon which Beach Municipal Federal Credit Union was founded. Please join us in wishing them the best of luck in school and in the future.
