Subject: Four-Week Progress Report
I want to report to you the progress I have made in the last four weeks at BioEng Venture Capital Corporation.
In the past four weeks, both team members of the group from BioEng Venture Capital Corporation have met several times.
September 30 – Discussed the value of time and money in Project Management. Calculated compound interest and talked about general economics.
October 1 – Looked at the energy found in sludge, mass balances for AD, Buswell calculations for methane yield.
October 2 – Continued to look at the value of money versus time, along with several different types of interest.
October 6-Mass balance calculations, continued meeting after class (noted below) October 8-Used the 3rd approach yield for methane calculated earlier in the day to access a
preliminary volume of reactor. Noted that all three produced similar yields. Also, met with Dr. Zheng to discuss questions and concerns with sizing.
October 13-Discussed with Dr. Drapcho our OLR, HRT and Volume. October 14-Economics continued. October 21-Discussed and calculated economic equivalence, equal payment series, sinking
fund factor and capital recovery. October 28-Standardized Ethics and Economics Test October 29-Downloaded MATLAB to help understand ADM1 modeling software and
corresponding papers.
Outside the class in the past three weeks, our group of two members, Jessica and I have met several times.
October 6 – Went over our entire mass balance calculation and got a final elemental basis for our substrate with 2 different methods.
October 8-Calculated methane yield using a third approach and molecular basis. October 12-Analyzed organic loading rate versus hydraulic retention time for previously
calculated methane yield. Calculated dryness of input and density.

material of BE410 and BE412. October 29-Research the ADM1 modeling software created for anaerobic digestion by the
International Water Association.
