Here’s the Sitch…
My Dear Parishioners, We have collected $24,740 so far towards our goal of $50,000 for the stained-glass window dedicated to
Fr. Mathew Vellankal. Please consider participating in this beautiful tribute. Sponsorships of $2,500 and above will be recognized on a plaque on the All Saints side of our Church.
We still have the following new stained-glass windows available for sponsorship: • Fruits of the Spirit - Joy, Patience, Kindness, Modesty, Gentleness, Self-Control, Chastity. These are avail-
able for $10,000 each. Individual or group sponsor’s name will be etched onto a plaque. • Side windows next to the side entrance doors (below the large “Holy Spirit” windows) - narrow glass pan-
els are $12,000 each and wider panels are $15,000 each. Sponsor’s name will be etched onto a plaque. The stained-glass windows have been installed. Dedications may be added at any time. If you are interest-
ed in sponsorships but need a little time to gather the funds, please contact Jeff at the Parish Office to dis-cuss options.
Blessings, Fr. Ken
Friends, this Sunday, we celebrate the Feast of the Holy Family. This beautiful feast encour-ages us to look to the Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph for inspiration, encouragement, exam-ple, and guidance. There is a reason and purpose why Jesus chose to be born in a family. By being born in a fami-ly, Jesus sanctified mothers, fathers and children – the entire family. He brought holiness to the family of Joseph and Mary. And He is inviting us to participate in that holiness. Some of us may object because the Holy Family may seem ideal and perfect, while our family is not. But if we look at what this Holy Family went through, they were not really exempt from the harsh and difficult realities of life. They had troubles and challenges to deal with, much like yours and mine. That is why the feast we are cele-brating today is not called the feast of the “Perfect Family” or the “Ideal Family,” but Holy Family. So, how can our family be holy? I think it happens when we imitate the Holy Family – i.e., by being the kind of husband and father Joseph was; by being the kind of wife and mother Mary was; and by being the kind of child that Jesus was. In other words, our family becomes holy when we allow God and His love to be the cen-ter of our family life. We can even be more specific: by going to Mass as a family; by praying together daily as a family; or by spending quality time together as a family, even if this means turning off our cellphones and gadgets from time to time. Without God, the Holy Family wouldn’t have been holy. Without Christ’s real pres-ence in our lives, our family couldn’t be holy.
Prayer to the Holy Family (from the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth) Jesus, Mary, Joseph, model for all Christian families, I entrust my family to your care and protection. Bless each member of my family. Help me and the members of my family to love, listen to, support and accept one another. Encourage us to challenge one another to be compassionate, merciful and forgiving as we struggle with the difficulties of our lives. Guide us to seek goodness and holiness in our everyday choices, actions and attitudes. Encourage us when our faith is weak and when we fail to lead one another to Christ. Make our home a real dwelling place of peace, joy and love, where you are ever present among us. May we work to uphold each one’s dignity, integrity and unique contributions to the well-being and growth of our family. And when our time on earth is complete, bring us all safely home to you in the company of heaven. Amen. Jesus, Mary and Joseph, graciously hear our prayers.
From the Desk of Fr. John...
