Eating Healthy!

• We don’t eat as healthy as we are supposed to. I can’t say myself that I eat one dark green and one orange vegetable everyday! I do eat plenty of veggies and fruits but we all know its difficult to eat so healthy.

• Fill up your kitchen and replace with healthy foods, so you’re meals will be healthy

• I will try to do the simplest of things like switching out ice cream with frozen yogurt or adding lemon, lime, cucumber or fruits to flavour water instead or calorie filled, sugar loaded soda pops.

• I am also vegetarian so I have to be sure I’m getting my proper intake of protein.

• Try to eat foods of a variety from all the food groups by referring to the Canada Food Guide

• Have breakfast everyday, read nutrition labels, small portions, snack smart, drink water and eat happy!

Making Healthy Meals/Ideas for Lunches

Simple but Appetizing:

• Soup, pastas in thermos

• Frozen yogurt tubes/juice boxes

• Hummus and vegetables

• Wraps

• Homemade whole grain muffins

• Fruits and yogurt

• Whole grain breadsticks with tomato salsa or guacamole

• Sliced veggies

• Fruit salad

• Whole grain bagels with lite cream cheese

• Crackers and cheese

• Fruit (bananas, apples, pears, blueberries, raspberries, cherries, oranges etc.)

• Water bottle(lemon/cucumber)

**** When you’re on the go it’s easy to drive thru and pick up food in minutes but it’s the least healthy. The more pre-packaged/processed it is the worse it is for your body!

• Stress is a feeling that is created when we react to challenges and are concerned on how to overcome it.

• There’s so much pressure, for demands, to get work done, races, games, tests and presentations. Losing sleep the night before an important event because you’re in panic, doesn’t help the next day and makes it worse.

• Breathe, give yourself time to prepare, be confident in your hard work.

• For me before an important game I get stressed! I have to listen to music to calm myself, drink water and then warmup. I usually do great, it’s before the pregame stress that can mess it up.

• If you are consumed in stress, can’t focus and ready to give up, know that you’re not alone, ask for help and importantly take a deep breathe

• It’s who you see you see yourself, the way you wish to look and how you want other to see you

• It’s difficult to be happy with the way you look when you see from about 400-600 advertisements a day. The media portrays the perfect body with an attractive face coated in makeup, luscious hair, white teeth, an hourglass figure, height and a mass less than 125lbs.

• I’m lucky to be involved in so many physical activities so I stay fit. And Of course I want to get rid of unwanted blemishes sometimes occasional weight gain in the off season. But I know you can’t live a happy life without being happy with yourself. **** Perfect is over rated****

• Embrace and appreciate who you are. Work for what you want and be happy

Physical Activity

• We as teens are highly recommended to get at least 1hr of physical activity a day. Once you get involved you start to enjoy it, lose weight, boost in confidence, become social and prevent medical problems.

• Any sport or activity, running, hiking, soccer, baseball, volleyball, tennis etc. get you these results.

• My life revolves around sports! I couldn’t live without them! It ties in with releasing stress, reaching your goal of the body image you want and encouraging yourself to eat healthy to maintain the level of fitness to accomplish your physical goals.

• It makes you enjoy the other things in life by releasing any negative feelings you have, a true medication to an unhappy person.
