Unit 5

Another way to express the future:

• To talk about FUTURE PLANS.• To make PREDICTIONS.

Estructure:

Examples:I am going to travel abroad next month. (plan)She is not going to pass the exam because she is a very bad student. (prediction)

Verb to be + going to+ infinitive verb

• AFIRMATIVE form:This car is ten years old. I am going to buy a new one.• NEGATIVE form:This car is ten years old, but I’m not going to buy a new car.• INTERROGATIVE form:This car is ten years old, so are you going to buy a new one?

• Translate this sentences:

Mi madre está trabajando, por tanto, mi padre va a hacer la cena.

My mother is working, so my father is going to make dinner.

Lo siento, no puedo ir de compras. Voy a hacer las tareas de casa.

I’m sorry, I can’t go shopping. I’m going to do the housework.

Mi mujer y yo vamos a hacer un viaje por nuestro aniversario.

My wife and I are going to make a trip for our anniversary.

• Voy a hacer una fortuna con este negocio.

• I am going to make a fortune with this business.

No me encuentro bien, pero voy a hacer un esfuerzo para ir a trabajar.

I don’t feel well, but I am going to make an effort to go to work.
