Concours d’Elegance: Day 1

On Sunday, February 22nd, 200 of the finest collector cars and motorcycles from around the country will gather on the show field at the famed Boca Raton Resort & Club. On display at this year’s Concours will be an exquisite collection of Cadillac’s and Ford Mustang’s. The judging process will combine a point/percentage system, along with Modified French Rule evaluation criteria of the cars condition, authenticity/originality, and appeal in the following areas: the vehicle’s exterior, its interior area, the engine area, and the overall presentation, visual impact and significance of the car. A variety of manufacturers will be displaying vintage, antique, and classic automobiles. Plus, guests will have the opportunity to enjoy an assortment of gourmet food, wines and cocktails from 30 of South Florida’s finest restaurants in the Concours d’Gourmet Pavilions.

The Boca Raton Concours d’Elegance is a fundraiser to benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County, with 100 percent of the proceeds going towards the cause. The Boca Raton Concours d’Elegance has set a record for the most money ever raised for a charity at an annual Concours event anywhere in the world.

The Boca Raton Concours d’Elegance will feature renowned artist Gloria Jones Hacker. A professional artist (BA Fine Arts, BS Art Education) Gloria’s styles and media choices are as varied and universal as her clientele. Examples can be seen in her work for the Concours – from modern yet art-deco look of the event’s official logo, to the classical, fine art styling’s of the oil-on-canvas painting. Owner of the Art Studio, Gloria does both privately commissioned fine art work and contract work for commercial customers. A brief list of her clients includes Lincoln-Mercury, McDonalds, Mead, and countless other private, business, and government accounts. Her enthusiasm for her Cars as Art Collection reflects her lifelong love of cars – from her college car, a very open-air TR3 - to her first work car, a British racing green MGB-GT to her recent ticket-inducing BMW M Roadster. She has displayed her work at numerous Concours d’Elegance, notably the Barrington in Chicago and as the featured artist at the Dayton Concours and most recently at the legendary Pinehurst, the home of golf in America.

The evening’s festivities will include the presentation of the Annual Automotive Lifetime Achievement Award to Keith Crain, Chairman of Crain Communications, Inc., as well as to the Ed Morse Automotive Group. Past recipients have been Mike Maroone, Roger Penske, Bobby Rahal, Mike Jackson, H. Wayne Huizenga, Carroll Shelby, Edsel Ford, John Staluppi, Emerson Fittipaldi and JM Family Enterprises. Application Deadline is December 19th, 2014. Early applications are preferred as there is a “rolling” acceptance system. All applicants must submit completed application to include current high resolution photos of the vehicle, exterior, interior, engine compartment and brief history. Any vehicle shown in 2012, 2013 or 2014 (excludes Cadillac and motorcycles ) is not qualified.
