    Content

    Throughout the first year of the Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) degree, participants are subject to a mixture of senior

    business topics with advanced seminar and research work in the field of management. The main perspectives of the four courses

    of the first doctoral year are as follows:

    Research Methods (I and II)

    This course moves students towards fulfillment of the dissertation and publication requirements of the doctoral degree. The

    course focuses on 'when' and 'why' to use the different research methodologies; such as Case Study research, Action research,

    etc., understanding their nature, and appreciating the advantages and disadvantages of each research method. It also covers

    the main two research paradigms; the Quantitative as well as the Qualitative paradigms. Other class topics include concepts

    from the philosophy of science and from psychology; acquiring data, interpreting and presenting research results, and dissertation

    writing.

    Quantitative Methods (I and II)

    Quantitative methods are an indispensable tool for solving many of the problems that are encountered in business, not only in

    relation to research but also for production, marketing and finance as well as personnel matters. Therefore, the objective of the

    quantitative methods course, is to survey the various quantitative and analytical tools, which are likely to assist in shaping the

    process of research the students will undertake in the doctoral program and thereafter in their career. The coursework also

    covers the application of several modern math/statistics software, such as SPSS, ANOVA, etc.

    Participants Profile

    This Doctor of Business Administration is aimed at the holders of the masters degree, who are seeking leadership roles in business

    or academic organizations, with a multidisciplinary grounding in business administration. The program is adapted for business

    executives with full-time job responsibilities who want to study part-time. The program allows them to undertake their studies

    at a pace that fits their substantial responsibilities.

    A team of worldwide-recognized professors who are known for their distinguished academic and research records lead this

    program. Moreover, a large part of the literature review as well as the fieldwork is done under the guidance and supervision ofhighly qualified appointed advisors.

    Program Accreditation

    MSM DBA program is internationally fully accredited by the Association of MBAs (AMBA), the

    Association of Collegia te Business Schools (A CBSP), and the Assembly of Collegia te Business

    Education (IACBE). Maastricht School of Management belongs to the selected group of institutions

    recognized by the Dutch government to provide academic education.

    Awarding the DegreeUpon successful completion of all 4 c ourses (a t otal of 128 c ontact hours) and the pr esentation of the r esearch proposal,

    participants will be awarded the Master of Philosophy (MPhil.) degree. After the field research, data analysis and writing as well

    as defending the academic dissertation, participants will be awarded the Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) degree from

    Maastricht School of Management, The Netherlands.

    Facilities ProvidedFacilities provided to participants include access to computer labs that are connected to the Internet at a speed of 10 Mbps in

    addition to RITI wireless Internet connection, library services, and access to an international digital library (EBSCO). All MSMstudents have access to the MSM online information center.

    Duration:4 years.

    Schedule:Each course is conducted through 8 consecutive days from 18:00 to 22:00 hrs.

    Admission Requirements:

    Applicants must hold a masters degree from a recognized university. Applicants must submit the original certificate and the

    transcripts of their masters degree. Other prerequisites for admission include a completed application form, preliminary research

    proposal, two recommendation letters, current resume, and three passport-sized photos. The preliminary proposal should

    comprise a satisfactory research outline indicating the intended field of study. MSM preliminary proposal format must be used.A TOEFL score of 600 (or an equivalent score) is a prerequisite for enrolment. A minimum of five years of relevant work experience

    is a must. (All documents have to be submitted in English Language).
