Some Common FAQs

When do I go on exchange?Students who commenced this program prior to 2013 generally go on exchange during their third or fourth year. However students who commenced in 2013 will go on exchange in Session 2 year 2 and Session 1 year 3.

I’ve heard ASB gives a grant to B Com (International) students. What do I need to do to receive this money?Yes, ASB gives a $2000 grant to each B Com (International) student to assist with the costs of the one year exchange. You do not need to apply or complete a special form. Once you leave for your exchange, the UNSW Exchange Office provides all the necessary details to ASB who then transfers the $2000 into your account.

If you have any questions regarding your program structure, courses to select for the Study of the Region component, how to commence planning your exchange, what courses you should do on exchange or at UNSW, or anything else related to your program... drop into the ASB Student Centre and ask to speak to Alvin. Or email an online request and identify yourself as a B Com (International) student. Alvin is the dedicat-ed Student Advisor to support this program.

Welcome to UNSW! And a warm welcome to the B Com (International) program for 2013. Hopefully the year began well and, for those in the first year of this pro-gram, that your time at ASB is memorable and reward-ing. With the first session now finished and exams com-mencing - I’m sure everyone will be looking forward to a

couple of weeks break.

Welcome also to the first edition for 2013 of our Newsletter “Going Places”, just for B Com (International) students. We will be sending at least two editions per year to let you know

key points about your program, new initiatives to sup-port you and opportunities which may be of interest. We are also interested in hearing from you – so if you would like to add a piece to our next edition, please get in touch.

We would especially like to hear from students returning from their exchange – to share your experiences, and a photo or two, with your fellow students. If you would like to contribute to our next newsletter just send an email to Lisa (l.mccarthy@unsw.edu.au)

In this edition we update you on the slight changes to the exchange application process, provide dates for the special exchange sessions just for B Com (International) students and introduce you to the new Student Advisor, to assist students.

Student Exchange Update

From this year semester the Information Sessions will change slightly. Information Sessions are a great way to find out about opportunities abroad and learn about all the different programs, regions and require-ments. These optional information sessions are held throughout the semester.

To find out how to apply you now need to complete the Student Exchange online tutorial. The tutorial covers the application process, suggestions on how to research your options and you can download your application pack.

Completing the online tutorial is essential to apply. On completion the logon details for your online ex-change application will be sent to you. Email intex@unsw.edu.au or visit the Global Education Office for access details to the online tutorial. If you attend an Information Session, access details for the Student Exchange online tutorial are emailed to you after the session.

HOW TO APPLY

Step 4Prepare your study plan

• Complete the Transfer of Credit form. Talk to your faculty and seek approval for the courses for your first preference university. If you are nominated to another preference you will need to repeat this pro-cess for your nominated university
