Chapter A Presentation
The BCI 160 terminal block enables 16 relay-type digital outputs to be implemented under the control of an output card located in a system. The BCI 160 module can receive:
electromechanical relays RB solid-state relays SB and SH
The design of this product is geared to industrial process control where safety and reliability are essential criteria.

Chapter B Operation B.1. Relay output
The BCI 160 terminal block has 16 relay outputs. For each channel, the following three contacts are available:
normally open normally closed common
If the relay chosen enables this. The breaking capacity depends on the relay selected in the data sheet.
>>>NOTE: For more informations about relays used, please consult Manufacturer Web site.

B.2. Command signals BCI 160 is available, at the order, in two versions:
BCI 160/XX: in this case a low level on the command position the concerned relay
This version is compatible with ADAS boards. BCI 160/XX/INV: in this case a high level on the command
position the concerned relay ABT 540 and ABT 541 components are assembled on support to effect the changement (see APPENDIX: Configuration layout).

B.3. “Safety” mode
The BCI 160 terminal block has one galvanically isolated input per photocoupler which can be used by a safety loop. GROUP safety for channels 0 to 15 The photocoupler used is an HCPL 3700 particularly well-suited to industrial environments. The "safety" signal may be AC or DC. The resistance RP1, mounted on a stud, is adjusted according to the selected input sensitivity. The capacitor CP1 performs filtering of said input. The table below describes the values chosen according to the levels:
V Rated 5V 12V 24V 48V 110V 220V RP1 (KΩ) 0.01 1 4.7 10 22 47 CP1 (µF) 10 4.7 1 1 1 1
The BCI 160 terminal block is delivered for a "safety" signal of 24V. SAFETY MODE: W2 = AB = Safety

The BCI 160 terminal block has a "common". This feature avoids a large number of wirings in certain applications. STRAPS from S000 to S1500 enable this possibility to be implemented or not.

The frame must be turned off before plugging in the product.
C.2. Connection to process Connection to the process is performed by plug-in terminals. The diameter of the wire must be smaller than or equal to 1.5 mm². The drawings below illustrate the possibilities:

C.3. Logic power supply The BCI 160 terminal block requires a + 5V logic power supply. This may be provided:
By the input/output cards via P1/50 or P3/50 The strap W1 is on position AB
By the power supply terminals provided for this purpose (which is preferable)
The strap W1 is on position BC

It should be noted that, in both cases, a 2A fuse protects the power supply in case of failure.
