The event was an Earth Day celebration showcasing a wide variety of environmentally—friendly attractions. Del- ilah and the Moo crew educated visitors about the dairy industry here in BC. This will mark the 3rd year the Moo Crew has participated in this Earth Day celebration. It was truly a pleasure! Milk Run is a long standing tradition at BC Dairy. Our goal is to help schools across BC promote school spirit, healthy lifestyles, and com- munity involvement by providing support through prizing. Students, staff, and volunteers laced up their shoes to complete a 3km run, walk, wheel, or skate this past April 17. The run had a great turn out and we hope to see everyone again next year! New Funding Delivers Local Milk to Schools Thanks to BC dairy farmers and new funding from the provincial government, BC students in kindergarten through grade two will have access to local milk at school at no cost to students or their families. The initiative will be deliv- ered in partnership with BC Agriculture in the Classroom Foundation, who run the very successful BC School Fruit and Vegetable Nutritional Program (BCSFVNP). Schools may register to receive milk when they renew their regis- tration for the BCSFVNP. The program minimizes milk delivery costs because distributors can add local milk to the fruit and vegetable deliveries already being made to schools. Delivery of milk will start in the fall of 2013.
