OHIO OH OLE’ SEPTEMBER 2018 - BUCKEYE BREEZE Dear Sisters: Welcome to Fall! I hope you enjoyed your summer with friends and family and are ready to start the work of our Fraternal Year. First up is our Leadership Assembly, Carla Carter, the Leadership Chairman and your Membership Maraca Janet Holmes have worked hard to make this meeting both educational and entertaining. Our new District Leaders are learning the ropes as they lead us to what we hope will be a record- breaking year in Membership and our Charity Chairmen are planning their first fund raising efforts. This month marks Independence Day in Mexico, celebrated on September 16 th with parades, concerts and patriotic programs. On the evening before, about 11pm, the President of Mexico stands on the balcony of the National Palace and recites a shout of patriotism with the names of the important heroes of the Mexican revolution, this is the called The Grito. After The Grito everyone shouts Viva Mexico three times and then, fireworks! So, having given you your history lesson for the day, I hope all of you will take the time to celebrate your membership in our Auxiliary by making your best efforts to welcome new members, work hard for our charities and continue to be kind to each other and all of those around you. Before your next newsletter, we will have had at least one Zone Conference take place. Please try to attend at least one and why not take a friend? Many of us have made lifelong friendships at our Zone Conferences and isn’t that what our Auxiliaries are all about, our Sisterhood? As mentioned last month I’m looking forward to visiting as many of you as possible this year, so please, pick a function and send our Secretary, Debbie, and myself your request and I will do my best to attend. OHIO OH OLE’

SEPTEMBER 2018 - BUCKEYE BREEZE Dear Sisters: Welcome to Fall!

This month marks Independence Day in Mexico, celebrated on September 16th with parades, concerts and patriotic programs.

WOW!! Got the card from the State Convention! The one everyone signed! Never have I seen a busier card. I have read every name several times and each time it gives me a wonderful lift; and I always smile. Thank you. It’s great to be thought of by so many Sisters and Brothers. And a special Thank You to everyone who sent me a card. It got me over the rough times. I’m improving every day; will soon be back to “Full Time” mischief.

Love to everyone, Marian “Maudie” O’Brien

A great big APOLOGY to Nancy Neth, this year’s Grandmother. I misspelled her name in the July Breeze. Enjoy your honor!!!

Having had the joy and privilege to serve alongside my Mom in various functions as members of the Ladies Auxiliary in Chagrin Falls #2436, I witnessed the joy she had standing in last minute to read a section of the initiation of new members just this past spring at 87 years young. I knew how important the formal rituals were to her. One of her wishes was to have the officers perform a service when her time on this earth was finished, which was done with honor by the Ladies Auxiliary of Chardon #2261 where she had dual membership and served as well. We, as her family, were blown away; which shouldn’t have been a surprise because the Eagles was, after all, her home away from home for 44 years. The presence of officers, members and clubs represented and paying respect on her behalf was overwhelming. And then again, at the Graveside Service, #2261 honored her with a poem and closing prayer before her Pastor officiated. Last but most certainly not least, it was only fitting for the Celebration of Life to be held afterwards at her home FOE Club and beautifully presented by the Ladies Auxiliary of Chagrin Falls #2436.

Our Most Heartfelt Thanks, So Very Grateful, Clarice Rybicki

Hello to all of the beautiful tropical fish out there getting new members!

This week I'm looking forward to Leadership in Worthington. On Saturday our Dulces (District Leaders) will be making their challenges. Again this year, as in the past, you will be allowed to challenge 5 and to accept up to 5 also.

Here are the top 3 States so far: Ohio is in first place with 462 new Sea Turtles. Second place is Michigan with 272 members. Third place is Florida with 265.

Keep up the good work and I'll see you all Friday!

Janet Holmes, Your Maracas
