    All data was collected online. Fieldwork was done in March 2015. The total number of respondents was 5,774.

  • Summary

    Overall, 4 out of 10 respondents are satisfied with their present job, with 18% of them being verysatisfied.

    Respondents in Egypt seem more satisfied with their current job; close to one fourth claim that they are very satisfied.

    The benefits currently received from companies vary significantly from country to country. Overall, 63% of the respondents have medical insurance for themselves.

    58% have a holiday pay, while almost 1 out of 2 receive a sick pay. In terms of preferences, accommodation (43%) and medical insurance for both self (38%) and

    family (38%) are the most popular benefits. Due to high rental prices, accommodation is more important in GCC (52%) especially in the UAE

    (55%) when compared to Levant (25%) or North Africa (30%) 43% of respondents do not see themselves working for the same employer for the next two years,

    while 61% are actively trying to move to another organization. 1 out of 2of respondents strongly believe that they could easily find a similar job.

    Low base salary (66%) followed by lack of career growth opportunities (62%) are the two main reasons for leaving an organization.

  • Summary

    At an emotional level, one third of the respondents feel proud, motivated or enjoy going to work every day.

    Overall, close to one third (28%) believe that the performance of their organization is improving. In general, the levels of trust towards both senior management and line managers are low. Interestingly, respondents show more confidence in the decisions made by their line managers

    than those made by senior management

  • Summary

    Only 15% believe that their company shows an interest in the wellbeing of its employees, with respondents from North Africa, and especially from Morocco (10%), believing that to a lesser extent.

    Just over one third claim that they have a good work-life balance, while one fourth believe the opposite. A higher proportion of respondents from UAE (32%) are less happy with the working hours. One out of four respondents are satisfied with their current level of security, with employees in Algeria

    being somewhat more satisfied (34%). Close to one third are satisfied with the level of autonomy they have in their job. Respondents from North Africa feel more autonomous (30%) as compared to employees in GCC (26%)

    and Levant (24%) Regionally, around 40% do not believe that their line manager is good at managing people. Respondents from Morocco seem slightly less happy with the managerial skills of their line manager.

  • Summary

    Over 30% claim that they have an interesting job, with respondents from Qatar (43%) and Tunisia (44%) believing that to a greater extent.

    On the other hand, respondents from Levant find their work somewhat less interesting. Almost 1 out of 2 claim that there is a mutual respect within their team. This belief is less strong in GCC

    (42%), especially in the UAE (35%) and Bahrain (37%). Over 40% strongly believe that their pay is not fair compared to similar jobs in other companies.

    Employees in Morocco (52%) and Algeria (55%) claim that to a greater extent. The perception of receiving a fair salary compared to similar jobs in the same company is low across all

    countries. A higher percentage of employees in Bahrain (46%) and Morocco (52%) consider their pay to be unfair.

    Close to one fourth of respondents strongly believe that they use their skills and knowledge to their full potential.

    On the other hand, only two out of ten seem happy with the training opportunities that exist in their companies.

    Respondents from Kuwait seem somewhat happier with the training opportunities they are offered than others.

    Overall, 38% claim that they use their skills and knowledge to their full potential a feeling that is higher in the GCC and especially in Kuwait (46%), Qatar (47%) and Bahrain (49%).
