LET US COME TOGETHER in reminding and making sure our students follow BCMA’s

Before being dismissed for first period, ALL students MUST be in their assigned
areas. 8th
grade students report to the CAFETERIA. No students are allowed to be in
the hallways, classrooms or restrooms WITHOUT PERMISSION.
Locker times: Morning, after being dismissed from their designated areas; Before and
After Lunch; Between 4th
and 5th
Period.
Dress code: Navy blue polo shirt with BCMA logo, khaki pants/shorts or skirts that are
knee-length, BCMA navy blue sweater or solid blue sweater. School I.D. must be worn
around the neck at all times.
ONLY ON FRIDAYS: Blue or black jeans with no tears, cuts or holes, BCMA spirit
t-shirt or college t-shirt.

Message from Dr. Sweeney to Parents and Guardians Please send your email address to your students' health science (exploratory science) teacher
which includes Neuroscience for 6th grade, Scientific Decision Making for 7th grade and
Fundamentals in Biotechnology and Bioengineering for 8th grade. You may write your
email on your student's agenda or a piece of paper. The students will need it to request your
approval to register for Scienteer, a secure online management system for the school

Biotechnology classes will launch the biomimicry lessons within the nanotechnology unit
by first studying the properties of water.
o Laboratory experiment studying the properties of water
o Laboratory experiment on the super hydrophobic tendency of water on plant
surfaces particularly the Lotus plant.
Students will understand the principles of microbiology and engage in an experiment
about bacteria growth

Weekly Homework: 2 sketches in sketchbook
o Sketch #11: Observe a tree and try to draw it using only basic geometric shapes.
o Sketch #12: Observe a person and try to draw that person using only basic
geometric shapes.
LOOKING TO THE FUTURE…
ITEM #1: In several weeks (hopefully in week 8), we are
doing a “Day of the Dead” papier mache mask. For this
project we will need NEWSPAPER. Please save your
newspapers or pick one up at the store in the coming week.
Please send your student to school with a newspaper for Art
Class by Monday, October 10, 2016 to prepare for this
project. Thanks!
