MAIN POINTS OF SUMMARY

Gandalf leads the dwarves to Bilbo’s house to discuss about how to get their land and treasure back, Bilbo unwilling takes the role of a burglar. They face a lost of challenges on the way and ended up lacking food.Gandalf brought them to Enrold’s place and there, they got a lot of advice and food, which was of great help. They carried on with their journey and arrived at last. Before they managed to defeat Smaug, Bard defeated Smaug after knowing his weakness.Bilbo got the Arkenstone and gave it to Bard, which made Thorin really angry. The “Battle of Five Armies” broke out and was only ended with the appearance of the Eagles, saving the good people.Bilbo and Gandalf then return after Thorin’s death, peace was once again regained at that time. Page 24: Battle of the books

FAVORITE CHARACTERFavorite character GandalfReason 1. Smartest of all; usually the

one who plans things for the dwarves, although Thorin is the leader.

2. Knows many friends, who helped the dwarves get to their destination in an easier way.

3. cool; knows magic and is a wizard (I always liked magical things)

4. Always protected Bilbo when he was in danger, making him more willing to help the dwarves when he had the courage

Page 25: Battle of the books

COMMENTS It was interesting how Enrold began to

like the dwarves.

It can be seen from the book that at some of the dark times, you may be left alone. Bilbo was left to escape from Gollum by himself.

Human nature could be seen, like greed. Bilbo Baggins later on tried to get the treasure from Smaug.
