Our first meeting of 2013 was a combination of reality check and somberness. Our speaker Wayne Allyn Root provided us with stats on the “state of our union” that were even more staggering to the most well informed, established Republican. Sadly, it is a REALITY of the road to where our leaders have taken this great nation over the past 50 years of progressive policies. Great cities, such as Detroit and Chicago, once bastions of capitalist enterprises and thriving middle class security in the 1950’s, are now in ruin similar to what one might see in a third world country. Under 50 years of Democrat party rule, nearly 50% of Detroit’s population is illiterate with generation after generation still living in poverty amid city streets unprotected by police and where functioning street lights or sanitation pickups no longer occur due to the lack of funds. Residents in both cities continue to live in unspeakable violence as they exist solely on government largess. And yet, Progressives paint Republicans as the cold, uncaring party toward the poor and minority demographics. It’s all about the money and Progressives never get enough of other people’s money as they continue to lay a wasteland over what were once a self reliant, prosperous people. Progressives will always scream for more money for education but look at their results; the US global ranking in K-12 education is now 22nd. Does the old saying “Actions speak louder than words” make any sense to liberals at all? Obviously NOT so any wonder 51% of our citizens—legal or not, alive or dead or all of the above---voted for more of the same…they are

not educated by design to know the difference. The perfect Progressive plan as described in Saul Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals, (penned soon after the quote at the end of this message, was uttered by Russian President Nikita Khrushchev) After the meeting, my 24 year old daughter turned to me and said “Mom, where are we going to live now?” How sad that this is hers and her generations’ future. What can others who “get it” like my daughter do to save themselves today? She went on to say “when young people and older liberals finally wake up and realize it’s not all about gay marriage, abortion on demand and free health care, it will sadly be too late.” I told her this is what they believe to be “progressive”…….what an oxymoron.

“So where do we go from here?” many of us are

asking after a sham of an election. I believe we

have to stay strong, united in direction and

values and not let Progressives win anymore

elections. Divided government can be effective

when both sides are honest brokers for the

good of the American people. However today,

divided government has become a dirty word.

President’s Message Continued from Page 1… The Democrats want to inject Racism as a means of shutting down debate and manipulating public perception that the reason Republicans do not agree with a particular issue is that they are racists. This, after 40+ years of Affirmative Action and the election and re-election of our first black President. Republican leadership must stand united for the principles of our party – principles that have made this country great since its founding. We must continue to search out those among us who by “action” live these very conservative values, as well. Our nation was built on solid conservative laws and values and we must never let people forget. Progressives will continue to lie in every media venue that their values are “just” (social justice) which is code for “redistribution”. Conservatives must find a way to fight the Progressive road to communism using the message of truth in our founding documents. With this week’s inauguration, the ride is not much farther.

DO YOU REMEMBER WHEN NIKITA KHRUSHCHEVAPPEARED AT THE U.N. in 1959AND BANGED

HIS SHOE ON THE TABLE? THIS WAS HIS ENTIRE QUOTE. Who knew how prophetic this would turn out to be……

SHARE YOUR OPINIONS WITH YOUR LEGISLATORS

The legislative sessions begins February 4th. It’s going to be a busy session. They have a tool that all of you can utilize to voice your

opinion on the legislative website. It’s fast and it’s easy. We will be sending out legislative alerts and asking you to call your

Assemblyperson and/or Senator; however, this tool allows you to voice your opinion on as many bills as you like with a few clicks of

your mouse. This is particularly useful for our legislators when they attend committee meetings long before the “Alert” goes out. We

hope you will utilize this valuable tool. On the legislature’s website, here’s what they have to say:

The Nevada legislature allows you to share your opinions with your legislators on particular bills that are before them:

The Opinion Poll portion of this site contains constituent opinions for the 77th (2013) Session of

the Nevada Legislature. Feel free to view constituent opinions by clicking on the links above.

Throughout a legislative session, legislators review these opinions to gain perspective on how

constituents in their districts feel about legislation. Constituent names, addresses and other personal

information are NOT made public, but are available to legislators so that they will know

who is submitting the comment and are able to contact the constituent if they so desire.

Only opinion totals and comments are made publicly available on this site.

HOW TO USE THIS TOOL

Click here to get to the page on their website. You can also go to http://www.leg.state.nv.us and click on “

Share your Opinion”:

This year we will be supporting Marion Cahlan-Edison Elementary School. This school has approximately 800 students, most of which are living at, or below. poverty level. The school’s population is highly transient, with a disturbing percentage identified as homeless, or living in a multifamily situation due largely to economic hardship. The needs of these children are many and varied. I am hoping that throughout the year our Active Republican Women will step up and lend support to these needy children. Following is an excerpt of the school’s wish list. To see the full list Click Here. Clothing, Backpacks, Hats, Coats,

Shoes Copy Paper, Pencils, Sharpeners, Mini Whiteboards w/Markers Microphone/Music stands, Podiums Kindles, Mimi iPads, iPad protective

cover Flashdrives (for teachers) Recognition Certificates, Testing prizes

(pizza party, ice cream social) Teacher Appreciation Luncheon Physical Ed Supplies (see list) Musical Instruments (see list)

In addition to items, your time is also appreciated. A couple of upcoming activities that you might consider donating time to are: Career Day: Friday, March 22nd from

8:00—10:30 a.m. Anyone who would like to speak to the students about their careers and accomplishments is welcome.

Nevada Reading Week: Feb 25—Mar

1. Come in and read to the students or bring books.

If you can find the time to contribute to either of these events, please let me know and I will add your name to the list. Thank you for support, Caring for America Chairman Barbara Altman

ARW LITERACY COMMITTEE NEEDS HELP

The ARW Literacy Committee is a community outreach program. It is just one small way to show how

Republican Women can give to the community around us. First, February 25-March 1 is Nevada

Reading Week. Virtually any school, especially elementary schools love to have guest readers in their

classrooms at that time. If you would like to know more about reading in schools, contacting a school of

your choice, or tips on reading to children feel free to contact Molly Governs at [email protected] and

an email on tips on reading in schools will be sent to you.

Second, our adopted school this year, Marion Cahlan-Edison Elementary School, is in desperate need of

book donations. The book donations are a great way for individual children to start their own home

libraries or for classrooms to add to their libraries. New books or gently used books can be used. For

more information please contact Molly Governs for this also.

Nevada Reading Week is an opportune time to extend a hand to our community, but book donations and

the donation of a small time of reading to children can happen and is appreciated any time.

It’s that time of year!

Girl Scout Cookies for the

Chaplains at Nellis!

CORRECTION!!!

In 2012, Active Republican Women was very successful in collecting donations to purchase and

ship over 400 boxes of Girl Scout Cookies to both an adopted troop in Ft. Carson recovering

from injuries and to Nellis AFB Chaplains to share with our airmen and airwomen returning

from overseas.

We are very excited by our first project of the year and are again supporting Nellis Air Force

Base Chaplains to support. We plan to meet or exceed 2012’s goals. Further, we intend to pur-

chase the cookies, and support our community, from a Girl Scout Troop associated with an at-

risk school. Sales begin mid-February.

If you would like to donate to the purchase of the cookies, each box is $4.00 (any denomina-

tion is gladly accepted). Please make any checks out to Active Republican Women (notation

line for Girl Scout Cookies) and mail c/o ARW to 889 So. Rainbow Ste. #146, Las Vegas, NV
