HAVING THE RIGHT BATTERIES FOR STORM

PREPARATIONS

Lifeline batteries and Xeno batteries have something in common, they are the batteries you want in the

event of a storm or emergency where you lose power. There are some easy ways to make sure that your

storm preparations are complete, and to make sure everything will work the way you need it to when

you want it by following these four simple suggestions.

Make a list first

It is more common than you think for people to forget an important battery operated device when they

are getting ready to stock up on their Lifeline batteries and Xeno batteries. It is a little harder to miss an

appliance or vehicle that runs of the AGM, but missing something that will need the smaller Xeno

batteries is easy. Before you start, make a list of everything that is battery run, or that has an option to

run on a battery backup. You can then use this list to make sure that the batteries for everything are

checked throughout the season too.

Check the batteries each season

The new Lifeline batteries and Xeno batteries are designed to have a long shelf life. That doesn't mean

that you should get out of the habit of checking the batteries at the beginning of each season, and a few

times during the storm season as well. Always make sure that you check before any forecast storm too.

This will prevent you from being caught short when you most need your battery backups.

If you think you have enough, get more

If you think you have enough Xeno batteries, get more. The rule of thumb is that you should always

have enough to replace the batteries twice. While you may think that you don't have to do this with a

larger battery type like the Lifeline AGM, you should. The Lifeline batteries can be used for many

different purposes; you may need that power to provide for an additional boost, or to lend to someone

who didn't think ahead.

Storing your batteries where you can get to them

Believe it or not, one of the reasons why most people who make a storm preparation kit don't use it is

when the power goes out they can't find the backup batteries. You can have all of the flashlights you

want, but there will be so much to take care of in the event of a storm or emergency that hunting down

which batteries go with what may not happen. The best way to handle this is to use storm tape to tape

the backup batteries right to the device, if they are small like the Xeno batteries, or tape the batteries

down near the larger appliance (if you are using a Lifeline batteries). Even with the larger Lifeline

AGMs, they can move over time, or you can move them without thinking. In the dark you want to be

sure that everything is exactly where you picture it to be.
