Batkin•Hill
Batkin•Hill is a new duo in which
Clive Batkin (known locally and
more widely for his guitar playing), has
teamed up with fellow guitarist, Dorset-
based Richard Hill (a highly regarded
classical player, solo performer and
band leader of Richard Hill & The Hills).
Richard and Clive met a few years
ago at a summer school where they
were both teaching – realised they
had a sympatico playing style, and
subsequently met every summer to
work on composing and arranging
new material.
They write and play a series of sensitive
and evocative instrumental pieces,
designed to interest and delight both
guitar fans and non-musicians alike.
Nanne & Ankie
Nanne and Ankie have been
performing together since 1980,
originally in a series of groups and then,
since the turn of the century, as a duo.
They sing in Frisian, Dutch, Esperanto
and English and accompany
themselves on guitar, mandolin,
concertina and shawm.
Based in the Netherlands, they
regularly tour in Europe, North America
and Australia and have made nearly
40 albums. They sing traditional and
contemporary songs, and enjoy singing
songs on maritime and historical
themes and humorous songs about
everyday life.
Piers Haslam
Piers Haslam is a singer and guitarist,
singing mainly traditional English
folk songs, plus a few tunes of his own.
He has gleaned songs from the English
Folk Dance and Song Society’s library
at Cecil Sharp House, and from some
of the more obscure records of the
1970s folk revival.
