A. PRELIMINARIES
1. APPLICATIONS
Except as varied hereunder, THE LAWS OF CRICKET 2013 CODE (6TH
EDITION 2013), as recognized by NSW Cricket Association (NSWCA), shall
apply to all Bathurst District Cricket Association (BDCA) matches. All
references under the Laws if Cricket to ‘Governing Bodies’ shall mean the
Bathurst District Cricket Association.
These rules shall apply to all matches conducted and controlled by the BDCA.
All players, coaches/managers and umpires are to follow the guidelines set
down in the Australian Cricket’s Playing Policy and guidelines 2006.
2. DEFINITIONS
One Innings match - matches played over one innings such as a one day
and Twenty20 match.
Two innings match - Two day matches played over two innings
Preliminary Rounds - Matches played for Competition point prior to the final
series
Final Series - All final matches including Semi-Finals, Preliminary and Grand
Finals.
Main Competition - 1st, 2nd, 3rd and Presidents Cup. And other grades as
required.
Twenty20 - Monday Night Competition and Bathurst Premier League.

2. DRESS REGULATIONS
1.1 FOOTWEAR
No player shall be allowed to bat or bowl in spikes on any synthetic
surface or to play in flat soled shoes on turf pitches. Any club allowing
any of its players to wear inappropriate footwear on a pitch will be
responsible for the cost of repair to the pitch.
1.2 CLOTHING
a) Twenty20
In any game played with a white ball, teams may wear a club coloured
shirt. If a bowler has a predominately white shirt the umpire may
request the player to change the offending shirt before being allowed to
commence their over. Shorts will be permitted to be worn as long as
the entire side are wearing matching shorts.
b) Main Competition
For all grades (Excluding 3rd Grade), players at all times whilst
competing on the field of play must wear white or cream apparel with
the exception of club caps. Clubs MUST get written approval from the
Committee for apparel shirt that does not meet these requirements.
Hats must be white or cream unless coloured club caps are provided,
see 1.3. Shorts are permitted in 3rd Grade and must be white or cream.
Football shorts are not permitted. Any offences reported by either
captains or umpires will be referred to the BDCA Match Review
Committee, who may at their discretion impose the offending club a
$50 fine for each offence.
1.3 DISPLAY OF SPONSORS
It is acceptable to display club sponsors but is limited to the following.
The limitation on sizing
i. No more than 1 sponsors emblem on front of shirt
ii. No more than 3 sponsors on each sleeve
iii. No more than 2 sponsors on the back of the shirt
iv. And approval of the management committee
1.4 LIMITATION TO TOBACCO AND ALCOHOL SPONSORSHIP
No tobacco or Alcohol brands shall be permitted on any playing
apparel.

1.5 DECISION BY MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE
Clothing contrary to 1.2 and 1.3 above may be approved by the BDCA
Management Committee. Any proposal from clubs to add colour or
increase sponsorship on their playing shirts they must submit such
proposal with the BDCA Secretary along with an example of the
playing shirt.
1.6 BDCA MAJOR SPONSORSHIP
The BDCA reserves the right to have the competition sponsor’s name
or logo displayed on club’s shirt and will cover the cost of adding such
word or logo.
1.7 HELMETS
Batting- All junior players, under the age of 18, it is mandatory to wear
a helmet at all times
Junior Wicketkeepers.- All juniors, under the age of 18, it is mandatory
to wear a helmet, when Keeping up to the Stumps, however, a helmet
is not mandatory when Keeping back from the Stumps.

2 GROUNDS
2.1 BOUNDARY MARKERS
On grounds where boundaries are not clearly defined, the team listed
first on the draw will be responsible for supplying and setting out
suitable boundary markers. Umpires may request boundary markers on
any ground.
2.2 SYNTHETIC WICKETS
On synthetic wickets, for any ball which
• Pitches off the wicket and onto the grass, or
• Hits the edge of the wicket and deviates, in the opinion of the umpire
The umpire shall call and signal a No Ball.
For this purpose of this Rule, the edge of the wicket shall include any
grass that has overgrown the edge of the wicket.
2.3 COVERS
a) Where covers have been allocated to a ground the responsibility for
laying the covers will rest with the team listed first in the draw (home
team). Both teams will be responsible to put the covers away. Failure to
do so will result in a $200 fine. During the finals series matches, both
teams share the responsibility for the laying of cover at the end of the first
day. Players must take all care not to damage the covers with their spikes
when putting out and putting away covers.
b) The pitch and run ups must be protected from rain as much as possible.
c) Covers must be laid as late as possible on the Friday night before the
game and if the weather is fine, removed as early as possible on the
morning of the game.
d) Covers must be laid from 4pm on the Friday. If covers are not laid by the
home team and play is lost, a deduction of 4 competition points will incur.
In addition, the toss will automatically be forfeited and the away team will
decide to Bat/Bowl. It is the responsibility of the team laying the covers to
immediately notify a member of the BDCA Executive Committee when, for
any reason, it is not possible to lay the covers overnight prior to the next
day’s play.
e) When umpires are present, any decision during the course of the days
play to lay or remove covers is vested with them.
f) Both Captains will be responsible for the safe storage of all covers at
the conclusion of the match.

2.4 FITNESS OF PITCH OR GROUND
a) A grounds committee shall be elected at the BDCA AGM each year
b) The grounds committee shall determine the fitness of all council grounds,
when affected by inclement weather no later than 11am on the morning of
play, or 8am on Sundays of final series matches.
c) The grounds committee will then advise BDCA Secretary of any
cancellation or closure of grounds.
d) Any grounds that are unfit will be published on the BDCA website no later
than Midday (12pm) of the day of play.
e) Where umpire/s or captains deemed the pitch or ground unfit for play, the
match shall not be abandoned for the day prior to 3pm.
f) If rain is falling when play is in progress, or due to commence, or due to
resume, then the umpire/s shall then decide if play shall be abandoned for
the day and when play is to commence or resume.
g) Where possible any President’s Cup game that can be transferred to a
synthetic ground then the BDCA shall make every effort to move such
game.
h) Clubs with their own turf ground must inform the BDCA Secretary as early
as possible that their ground is unfit for play.

3 THE UMPIRES
3.1 PRESENCE OF UMPIRES
a) If only one (1) official umpire is present, subject to Law 3 (The Umpires)
shall be sole judge of fitness of the ground, weather and light for play.
Where a player-umpire is assisting the official umpire, the player-umpire
will officiate at the strikers end, and must be clearly identified by his/her
clothing.
b) If no official is in attendance, then the captains will appoint umpires, and
the captains will be sole judges of the fitness of the ground, weather and
light for play. Where the captains are in disagreement over the fitness of
ground, weather and light for play the status of the match at the time of
the disagreement is to continue until such time as an agreement is
reached or the scheduled finish time for the day is reached, whichever
occurs first.
3.2 APPOINTMENT OF UMPIRES
All umpire appointments for BDCA controlled matches will be made by the Umpire
Appointments Panel.
3.3 REPLACEMENT OF UMPIRES
In addition to Law 3.2 (Change of Umpires), the BDCA will permit the replacement of
an umpire for a full day of a regular season two day match and this umpire shall be
permitted to stand at the non-strikers end.
3.4 ASSESSMENT OF UMPIRES
Where official umpire(s) are present, both captains must pay close attention to the
performance of the Umpire(s). If unsatisfactory, or if something happened that
caused concern, a “BDCA Captains report on Umpires” form must be completed by
either or both Captains and returned to the BDCA Secretary
([email protected]) ASAP.

4 THE BALL
4.1 APPROVED BALL
a) For all main competition matches, red Kookaburra leather balls shall be
used, which weigh not less than 156 grams or more than 163 grams and
shall not measure less than 22.4 cm or more than 23 cm in
circumference. All balls shall be BDCA stamped. The following balls are
approved for use.
b) First Grade- 4 piece balls- Club Match, Regulation
c) Second Grade- 2 piece balls- Special Test, Tuff Pitch
d) Presidents Cup and Third Grade- 2 piece balls- Special Test, Tuff Pitch
and Red King.
e) Kooka Colt and Zenith Cricket balls are not acceptable for use in any
BDCA controlled game.
f) Any White 2 piece ball is acceptable for Twenty20 matches.
4.2 NEW BALL
A new ball may be taken after 80 overs in accordance with Law 5.4

5 FORFIETS
5.1 24 HOURS’ NOTICE REQUIRED
Any team wishing to forfeit a match is to give notice of no less than 24 hours to the
BDCA Secretary, Bathurst Umpires and to the opposing team.
5.2 PENALTIES FOR NOT GIVING NOTICE
Where no notice has been given the forfeiting team will be liable for the full umpires’
fee and full match fees for the match. Addition penalties may be imposed at the
discretion of the Match Review Committee if it deemed that there is no extenuating
circumstances. The penalties will also include the loss of 5 competition points in all
Grades.
5.3 CLAIMING A FORFEIT
The opposing team may claim a forfeit, should a team not be able to take the field
with at least 7 fieldsmen, within 30 minutes after the scheduled time for the match to
commence.
5.4 LOWEST GRADE TEAM
When a club is to forfeit a side it must chose its lowest graded side.

6 TEAM DECLARATIONS
6.1 TEAM DECLARATION LISTS
The ages of all players aged under 19 must be recorded on the player’s team list
which shall be handed to the umpire prior to the coin toss. Where no official umpire
is present, the team declaration list shall be handed to the opposing captain prior to
the coin toss.
6.2 ALTERATION TO TEAMS- GENERALLY
No alteration shall be made to either team without the consent of the opposing
captain or his/her substitute.
6.3 ALTERATION TO TEAMS- NO PLAY ON DAY 1
Should play be abandoned after teams have been declared, and where no play
takes place on the first day of a Two Day Match, a new team declaration may be
made on the second day.
6.4 LIMITATION ON PLAYERS
No player is permitted to play in two grades in the one round except under Rule 7.
(Replacement Players)
6.5 FOR ONE INNINGS MATCHES
For one innings matches, a team may consist of twelve (12) players. Eleven
fieldsmen only may be on the field of play at any one time. One (1) player shall be
declared the bowling 12th man and One (1) player shall be declared the batting 12th
man. Interchange of fieldsman without restriction is permitted provided no playing
time is wasted. However, Law 2.5 (Fielder absent or leaving the field) will still apply.

7 REPLACEMENT PLAYERS & SUBSTITUTE FIELDERS
7.1 REPLACEMENT PLAYERS PERMITTED IN TWO DAY MATCHES
To allow clubs to fulfil their commitment for Two Day Matches a maximum of three
(3) replacement players will be permitted in all grades but must adhere to the
conditions shown in Rule 7.2
7.2 CONDITIONS FOR PERMITTING A REPLACEMENT PLAYERS
a) A replacement player shall not be permitted for more or less than 1 day
b) Replacement players for final matches shall be the same as Competition
Round matches. (Max of 3 players)
c) Before the toss, the Captain of his/her team shall advise the opposing
captain of the player/s concerned and his/her replacement/s and this shall
be recorded on the list of teams exchanged. Once declared, teams shall
not change.
d) A replacement player shall be considered to be the player that has been
replaced for the purpose of competing the innings that was in progress at
the end of the first day and shall have all the rights of that player for the
remainder of the match, therefore if the replaced player has:
• Batted and been dismissed, the replacement player shall not
bat in that innings
• begun an innings and is not out, the replacement player must
resume that innings
• begun but not completed an over, the replacement player must
complete that over
7.3 REPLACEMENT FOR REPRESENTATIVE PLAYERS
a) Any player that have been selected to represent Bathurst District Cricket
Association, Bathurst Junior District Cricket Association or higher
representative side shall be entitled to be replaced by another player
subject to the conditions outlines in Rule 7.2
b) Where such a player has not been advised of his/her selection prior to the
start of the club game, Rule 7.2c shall be amended to allow the declared
team to change, subject to the captain of his/her advising the BDCA
Secretary of the name of the player concerned, immediately upon
receiving advice on the players selection. The BDCA Secretary shall
inform the Secretary of Bathurst Umpires and the opposing team’s
captain.
c) This rule shall apply to any grade where the replacement has been drawn
from.

7.4 SUBSTITUTE FIELDERS
The BDCA considers that a players absence from the field due to work, family or
other commitments is an acceptable reason to allow a substitute fielder under Law
2.1 (b) (Substitutes and Runners). Where it is known that a substitute fielder is
required under this rule, the fielding captain shall inform the umpire/s at the
commencement of the innings or start of the new days play.

8 THE TOSS
8.1 TOSS IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE LAWS
Captains shall toss for choice of innings in accordance with Law 12.4.
Captains are to especially note that the toss must be taken on the field of play and
the umpire/s must be present.
8.2 CLAIMING THE TOSS
The opposing team may claim the toss, should the captain or his/her substitute, not
be available to toss within the scheduled time in Rule 8.1
8.3 ABSENCE OF AN OFFICIATING UMPIRE.
If the event that there is no official umpire present, the captain or their substitute,
shall present the match ball for inspection by the opposing captain

9 DRINKS INTERVAL
9.1 ONE DAY AND TWO DAY MATCHES
A five (5) minute break may be taken after approximately each hour’s play. For One
Day matches the interval should be taken at the completion of the 20th over (or 18th
over in a 35 over match) in accordance with Law 15.9.
9.2 TWENTY20 MATCHES
For all Twenty20 matches, a drinks interval shall not be taken unless deemed
necessary due to climatic conditions.

10 INTERRUPTIONS TO PLAY
10.1 Over Adjustments
a) In the event of play not starting on time, or for any other
interruptions once play has commenced the total numbers shall be
reduced by at a rate of 16 overs per hour (one over per 3.75
minutes lost).
b) Each side shall share evenly in the overs lost I the event of time lost
in the first innings.
10.2 Suspension of Play Due to Lightning
Play shall cease immediately, in the event that a lightning flashes is followed by
thunder less than 30 seconds later. Play shall not resume until after 30 minutes of
the last lightning flash. It is recommended that no player enters the field of play
during the time play is suspended.
10.3 Minimum Overs to Constitute a Match
Listed below are the minimum overs required to constitute a match and a result be
determined.

11 BOWLING, BATTING & FIELDING RESTRICTIONS
11.1 JUNIOR
1. The workload of bowlers aged under 19 shall be managed as per Cricket Australia’s document “Well Played- Australian Cricket’s Playing Policies & Guidelines 2006”. These restrictions are detailed in “Section 4- Pathways and Game Formats” under the heading of “Bowling Guidelines and Restrictions”. These restrictions are summarized in Table 1. These guidelines apply to all junior players playing in any Grade of competition. Bowling Types : No medium pace or fast bowler ( broadly defined by one or both umpires as those to whom the wicketkeeper would normally stand back ) shall be permitted to bowl more than the number of overs in a spell and no bowler including slows shall bowl more than the number of overs in a days play.

11A PRESIDENTS CUP
In President’s Cup only, players over the age of 18 (On the 1st of October) to be
restricted to the following
a) Batsmen must retire (not out) immediately their score reaches or passes 50 runs,
They may recommence their innings, in original batting order, once the last
wicket has fallen and providing time hasn’t been reached. At the conclusion of
the innings those batsmen who have remained retired will be reassessed at
“Retired Out”.
b) Bowlers in two day games are allowed a maximum of 18 overs per innings with a
maximum of six (6) overs per spell. The rest period between spells shall be at
least double the number of overs bowled by an individual in the preceding spell.
Except where age rules apply as per table.
c) Any bowler in a one day game shall only bowl a maximum number six (6) overs
in a spell.
d) No batting restrictions shall apply to juniors 13-18 (on 1st of October).
e) Certain Seniors playing Presidents Cup may have further restrictions placed upon
them. These restrictions will be determined by an appointed Grading Committee,
who will review the player’s abilities.
f) Seniors who drop down from Second Grade to Presidents Cup will automatically
be made to retire their Innings at 50.
g) To constitute a game, there must be a minimum of 40 overs played per side.
11.2 FIELDING RESTRICTIONS
No fielder forward of the Wicket in play shall field less than 10 metres away from the
Batsman.
11.3 PLAYING AGE
No player under the age of 13 on the 1st October in the current season is permitted
to play in any BDCA Competition, unless written approval from the following is
obtained and forwarded to BDCA Secretary.

c) Level 2 Accredited Coach

12 MATCH FORMAT
12.1 TWO DAY MATCHES
All two day matches will be played as a two innings match in accordance with Law
(Number of Innings). The team batting first may continue batting on the second day.
a) Presidents Cup Two Day Matches will consist of a compulsory close after the
allocated 76 overs.
12.2 ONE DAY MATCHES AND TWENTY20 MATCHES
All One Day and Twenty20 matches will be played as one innings matches in
accordance with Law 12.1 (Number of Inning’s)
12.3 LAST HOUR OF MATCH
Law 16.6, 16.7 and 16.8 (Last hour of Play) shall not apply in BDCA matches.

13 PLAYING CONDITIONS - TWO DAY MATCH
13.1 APPLICATION
All Two Day matches shall be played under these Playing Conditions. Where time is
lost on day 1, the match will be played under the revised Playing Conditions of Rule
14.
13.2 FOLLOW-ON
A team, having a lead not less than 75 runs on the first innings, shall have the right
to request its opponent to follow on.
13.3 HOURS OF PLAY
All Saturday Grade games will commence at 1.30pm and conclude at 6:45pm No
overs are to commence after 6:45pm. Failure to bowl the required number of overs
will incur penalties as per rule 13.4.There shall be a maximum of 76 overs in a day’s
play.
13.4 SLOW OVER RATE PENALTY
For Sides not bowling their allocated overs in time shall be penalized .1 of a
competition point for every ball not bowled before the allocated cut off time.
13.5 LOSS OF TIME IN SECOND INNINGS
A) If the side bowling first completes their overs or dismisses their opponent
before the allotted time then this time becomes “free time” if the second
innings is disrupted by weather
B) If there is a stoppage in play in the second innings then the time accumulated
from “free time” can be lost before any reduction in overs are made.
13.6 INTERVALS
a) Preliminary Round Matches
A 15 minute interval may be taken at 4pm. Where play in any day of
a match does not commence before 3pm there shall be no tea
interval on that day.

b) Final Matches
Saturday’s tea interval shall be as per Rule 13.5, table 2 display’s the
format of Sunday’s intervals.

13.7 MATCH DURATION
a) Preliminary Rounds
• A match shall consist of a minimum of 152 overs. A minimum 76
overs on each day. Part overs count as full overs and each change
of innings shall count as 3 overs. If time is lost on day 1 then the
minimum numbers for the match will be reduced in accordance with
rule 10.1
If Team A (side batting first) is not dismissed or does not declare its
innings closed on day one, they may continue to bat on day two.
• If Team B (side batting second) is not dismissed by 6:45pm on day
two and have not passed team A's score then the games will be
declared a draw.
• If a second innings is played then the minimum numbers of overs
for the day will be deemed as the number of minutes left in the day
divided by 3.75. This overrides any other calculations of overs.
b) Final Series
• A match shall consist of a minimum of 172 overs, 76 overs on
Saturday and 96 overs on Sunday. Part overs count as full overs
and each change of innings shall count as 3 overs.
• Presidents Cup Finals Matches shall consist of its normal Home &
Away season fixture of 76 overs per day with a compulsory close.
• Drinks are to be taken in the middle of each session
• The team that finishes lower on the competition ladder must win
either outright or on the first innings.

• In the Grand Final the team that qualifies second must beat the
team qualifying first by first innings or outright to win the Grand
Final. If a second innings is played then the minimum numbers of
overs for the day will be deemed as the number of minutes left in
the day divided by 3.75. This overrides any other calculations of
overs.
13.8 TEAM BATTING FIRST DISMISSED ON DAY 1
If the team batting first (Team A) is dismissed or declares, Team B shall, unless
dismissed or declares, receive the balance of the overs remaining on the first day’s
play (if the minimum number of overs has been received in the days play has been
reached the play shall continue until 6:45) plus a minimum of 76 overs on the second
days play.
13.9 EARLY FINISH ON DAY 2
On the second day of any match, if a first innings result has been achieved, then with
the agreement of both captain and after consulting the umpire/s present, stumps
may be drawn stumps may be drawn no earlier than 5:00pm

14 PLAYING CONDITIONS - TWO DAY MATCH WHERE
TIME IS LOST ON DAY 1
14.1 NO PLAY ON DAY 1
a) Preliminary Rounds - If play was not possible on all the first days play
then the match will be played as a one day match, with teams competing
for Two Day First Innings points. Bonus points will not be available in this
instance.
b) Final Series - If play was not possible on all the first days play then the
match will be played as a one day match under normal one day rules with
the following conditions
1) 50 overs each side
2) 10:30am Start with 3hours 15mins to bowl overs
3) Lunch 30mins
4) 2nd innings has 3hours 15mins to bowl overs
5) 2 drinks breaks per innings

15 PLAYING CONDITIONS - ONE INNINGS MATCHES
15.1 APPLICATION
These playing conditions shall apply to both One day and Twenty20 matches.
15.2 DECLARATIONS
Law 14 (Declarations and Forfeitures) shall not apply in one innings matches.
15.3 BOWLING SUFFERING AN EXTERNAL INJURY
A bowler who suffers an external injury and must leave the field may, subject to the
Umpires approval, bowl immediately on their return.
15.4 WIDE BALL
When an official umpire is present they shall apply a very strict and consistent
interpretation to Law 25 (Wide Ball) in order to prevent negative bowling wide of the
wicket. The following shall be used as a guide by the umpire in considering what
shall be called a wide.
• First Grade Only- Any ball down leg side.
• All other grades-
• ANY BALL PASSING OUTSIDE THE PROTECTED AREA MARK ON THE LEG SIDE”.
• On the off side, a ball passing the batsman more than 75cm wide of the off
stump.
15.5 NO BALL
Any ball deemed to be a no-ball under the Laws of Cricket shall be re-bowled and a
free hit will be awarded.
15.6 FREE HIT
Conditions of a free Hit
• If the batsman do not cross then the field must remain the same as the no-
ball- unless a no ball was called to an infringement in field placements.
• If the batsman cross then the fielding captain may change the field
• Normal dismissal rules apply under the Laws of Cricket.

• If the delivery for the free hit is not a legitimate delivery (Any Kind of No Ball or
Wide) then the next delivery will become a free hit for whichever batsman is
facing
• The bowlers end umpire shall signal a free hit by (after the normal no ball
signal) extending one arm straight upwards and moving it in a circular motion.
15.7 QUOTA OF OVERS
a) In 1st and 2nd Grade and President’s Cup, all games will be played with a
maximum 40 overs (DST), and 35 overs (EST). Each team to receive this
quota of overs unless dismissed earlier and provided there is no time lost.
b) 3rd and lower grades are to play 35 over per side unless a team is
dismissed earlier and provided there is no time lost.
c) Twenty20 matches will 20 overs per side unless a team is dismissed and
provided there is no time lost.
d) Where the overs for a match have been reduced, the team batting second
shall not bat for a greater number of overs than the first, unless it is
dismissed in less than the allocated overs.

15.8 MAXIMUM OVERS PER BOWLER
a) Each bowler is limited to bowl a maximum number of overs, in
accordance with the following.
• 1st, 2nd & Presidents Cup- 8 overs
• 3rd Grade- 7 Overs
• Twenty20- 4 Overs
b) Where the overs for a match have been reduced because of delays or
interruptions, no bowler may bowl more than one-fifth (1/5) of the total
overs allowed, unless such a number has exceeded before the
interruption. If the total overs are not divisible by five, one additional over
shall be allowed to the maximum number per bowler to make up the
balance.
a) One Day Matches - All Saturday One day Matches will commence at
1.30pm.
b) Once a result or the last over of play has been bowled, this will be the
conclusion of the match.

16 ONE DAY MATCH
16.1 HOURS OF PLAY
a) One Day Matches - All Saturday One day Matches will commence at
1.30pm- with the team bowling first having until 4:10pm. Team bowling
second will commence their overs at 4:30pm and have until 7:10pm to
bowl their overs.
b) Both teams have 2hrs 40mins to bowl their allotted over.
c) Any overs bowled after the time above will be subject to penalties under
Rule 13.4
d) Once a result or the last over of play has been bowled, this will be the
conclusion of the match.
16.2 INTERVAL
There shall be one twenty (20) minute interval at the conclusion of the first innings.
16.3 SLOW OVER RATE
a) For Sides not bowling their allocated overs in time shall be penalized .1 of
a competition point for every ball not bowled before the allocated cut off
time.
b) The umpire(s) shall deem in an official match report submitted to the
BDCA Secretary if overs were not completed by cut-off times.
c) Where no umpires are present at a game the opposing captain must
submit a report to the BDCA Secretary no less than 72 hours after the
completion of the game out lining the reasoning behind the breach of the
rule.
16.4 FAST SHORT PITCHED BOWLING
A bowler is permitted to bowl one fast short pitched delivery per over, which passes
or would have passed over shoulder height of the striker standing upright at the
popping crease but not clearly above his/her head. In the event of a bowler bowling
more than one fast short pitched delivery above shoulder height of the batsman in an
over, the umpire shall call and signal No Ball.
Note: Any fast short pitched ball over head height or fast full pitched delivery over
waist height shall be called by the umpire at the Non-Strikers End only where an
official umpire is present. Where no official umpire is present, either umpire may
signal No Ball.
16.5 Fielding Restrictions

LEG SIDE
No more than five (5) fielders allowed on the leg side.
FIRST GRADE
a) At the instant of delivery, there may not be more than 5 fielders on the leg side.
b) Two semi-circles shall be drawn on the field of play. The semi-circles shall have
as their centre the middle stump at either end of the pitch. The radius of each of the
semi-circles shall be 30 yards (27.43 metres). The semi-circles shall be linked by two
parallel straight lines drawn on the field. The fielding restriction areas should be
marked by continuous painted white lines or ‘dots’ at 5 yard (4.57 metres) intervals,
each ‘dot’ to be covered by a white plastic or rubber (but not metal) disc measuring 7
inches (18 cm) in diameter.
c) For the first 10 overs only two fieldsmen are permitted outside the field
restriction marking at the instant of delivery.
d) For the remaining overs, only four fieldsmen are permitted to be outside the
field restriction marking at the instant of delivery.
e) In circumstances where the number of overs for the team batting first is
reduced, the number of overs in regard to the restrictions in c) and d) above shall be
reduced proportionately in a ratio of 15:50 (30%) in accordance with the table below.
Fractions are to be ignored in all calculations regarding the number of overs.

17 PLAYING CONDITIONS – COMPETITION T20
17.1 HOURS OF PLAY
f) T20 matches incorporated by BDCA into Grade competition will be
played across Saturday afternoons according to the following time structures:
i. Game 1 – 12:30-13:45 (Session 1) 14:00-15:15 (Session 2)
ii. Game 2 – 16:00-17:15 (Session 1) 17:30-18:45 (Session 2)
g) Teams will be given a break of 45 minutes, in the event of a double-
header Saturday.

18 PLAYING CONDITIONS - TWENTY20 MATCHES
(MONDAY NIGHT POOL)
18.1 HOURS OF PLAY
First Session 5.00pm- 6.10pm
Interval 6.10pm- 6.20pm
Second Session 6.20pm- 7.30pm
Note: Start times may be altered with the approval of the umpire.
18.2 FAST SHORT PITCHED BOWLING
Any fast short pitched delivery which passes or would have passed over shoulder
height of the striker standing upright on the popping crease shall be signaled and
called No Ball by the umpire.
18.3 FIELDING RESTRICTIONS
The following restrictions shall apply to all BDCA Twenty20 Matches
• At the instant of a delivery there shall be no more than 5 fielders on the leg
side
• For the first six (6) overs (Fielding Restriction Overs). Only two fielders are
permitted outside the 30 metre circle. ( The circle can be painted or
imaginary)
• For the non- Fielding Restriction Overs, no more than five (5) fielders shall be
permitted outside the 30 metre circle.
• In the event of an infringement of any of the above fielding restrictions, the
Umpires shall call and signal a No Ball.

18.4 FREE HIT FOR FRONT FOOT NO BALL
a) For Twenty20 matches only, the delivery following a no ball called under
Law 24.5 (Fair Delivery- the Feet) shall be a free hit for whichever
batsman is facing
b) If the delivery for the free hit is not a legitimate delivery (Any Kind of No
Ball or Wide) then the next delivery will become a free hit for whichever
batsman is facing.
c) For any free hit, the striker can be dismissed only under the
circumstances that apply for a no ball, even if the delivery for the free hit
is called wide.
d) Changes to the fielding positions are only permitted when the batsman
have crossed on the original No Ball delivery.
e) The bowlers end umpire shall signal a free hit by (after the normal no ball
signal) extending one arm straight upwards and moving it in a circular
motion.
18.5 TIMED OUT
In Twenty20 matches, Law 31.1 (Timed Out) shall apply except for the incoming
batsman must be in position to take guard or for his/her partner to receive the next
ball within 1 minute 30 seconds of the fall of the previous wicket. The incoming
batsman must be ready to make his/her way to the wicket immediately a wicket falls.

19 THE RESULT
19.1 PROGRESSIVE TEAM TOTALS
A progressive team total must be kept from the minimum overs for a match to the
completion of the innings to determine a win
19.2 TEAM DISMISSED OR DECLARES
For the purpose of this rule, where a team is dismissed or declares mid-way through
an over, that over shall count as a full over.
19.3 INTERRUPTIONS TO PLAY- DETERMINING THE RESULT
The match result shall be determined by
• One Day matches, the runs scored at the same numbered completed over, for
each team, when play is concluded.
• For Twenty20, on the comparison of the run rate of both teams. The run rate
shall be calculated by dividing the total runs by the total number of balls
received.
19.4 TWO DAY FINAL SERIES MATCHES
Where no play is possible by 1pm (DST) on the Sunday of final series matches the
game shall be declared a draw if a result has not been reached
19.5 ONE DAY GRAND FINAL
Where no play is possible before 3pm (DST) o the Sunday then the game shall be
declared a draw.
19.6 ONE INNINGS MATCHES- NO FURTHER PLAY AFTER ACHIEVING A
RESULT
Teams are to note that the provision of Law 21.6 (no further play is permitted once a
result has been achieved) shall be for ALL one innings matches.

20.2 FORFEITS
A team winning on forfeit shall receive the maximum points for that round.
The team forfeiting, shall receive no points for the round and be liable under Rule 5.2
to loss the 5 competition points.
20.3 BYES
a) Where each team plays an equal number of games, no points shall be
awarded for a bye.
b) For Partial Rounds of the same format, the team having the bye shall
receive the average points for all winning teams for that grade in that
round.
c) For each full round in the same format, no points will be awarded for a
bye.
d) For the purpose of this Rule, a “Full Round” means where every team
plays each other once.
20.4 BONUS POINTS
a) Two Day Matches
• The following will apply to Two Day Matches second innings only.
o Batting .01 for each run scored
o Bowling .25 for each wicket taken
b) One Day Matches
• 1 Bonus Competition Point will be awarded for the Following
• The Team Batting second reaches the Total required within 80%
of the overs. ( i.e. In a 40 over match the team batting second
have until the end of the 32nd over to reach the target score)
• The Team Bowling Second must restrict the Batting side to no
more than 80% of their score. ( i.e. If Side A score 200 runs then
they must restrict Side B to no more than 160 runs)
• If a match is interrupted due to weather and the overs are
reduced to less than 25 then no bonus points shall apply.
20.5 POINTS INCLUDED
In all Grades, all points gained in all matches will be used when determining finals
positions.

21 DRAWN OR TIED FINAL SERIES MATCHES
21.1 TIE OR DRAW IN SEMI OR PRELIMINARY FINAL
In the event of a draw or a tie in a semi-final or preliminary match the team that
finished with the highest number of points on the competition table shall be declared
the winner
21.2 DRAW IN GRAND FINAL
In the event of a draw in the Grand Final then the team that qualified first for the
grand final shall be declared the winner.
21.3 TIE IN A GRAND FINAL
In the event of a tie in the Grand Final, both teams shall be declared joint winners.

22 TIE IN ALL TWENTY20 MATCHES
22.1 IN THE EVENT OF A TIE THE FOLLOWING SHALL APPLY,
• No “Super Over” will be played. The match result will be declared a Draw.

23 PLAYER QUALIFICATION
23.1 PLAYERS QUALIFICATION
a) A player must play no less than 5 days of cricket in the current season.
b) A players grading for semi-finals, finals and Grand Finals including One
Day Finals, shall be determined by where the player plays the majority of
their season.
1) If a player plays more than 50% of the season in one grade
this is their grade
2) If a player plays an equal share in 2 grades the higher grade
will be their grade
3) If a player plays in three grades then the player can play in
the middle or higher grade
.
c) For qualifying purposes a team that receives a forfeit shall be deemed to
have played that match, provided however, a player is named on the
result card.
d) During semi-finals, finals and grand finals, the players grading will not
alter. He/she may only play in his/her grade and a higher grade.
e) Where a club has teams in adjacent grades in any final matches playing
at the same time they may select players as deemed necessary. A player
who under this rule, plays in a grade lower than his/her qualifying grade
may continue to play in that grade as long as the original qualifying grade
are still playing in the final series.
f) For a player to play in the One Day Final they must have played in at
least 3 matches prior to the completion of the one day rounds.
g) Byes do not count as days of cricket.
h) Washouts do not count as days of Cricket.
i) For every 3 washout days, the player qualification for all players is
reduced by one day.
j) The BDCA will not be accepting any exemption requests from Clubs
regarding Player Qualification for Finals.

24 FINAL SERIES
24.1 NUMBER OF TEAMS TO QUALIFY
The number of teams that will qualify for the final series shall depend on the number
of teams in each grade.
a) For All Grades the four teams holding the highest positions at the end of
the competition rounds shall play the final series as follows:
• Major Semi Final- The first place team plays the second
placed side. The winner proceeds straight through to the
Grand Final, the loser plays the preliminary final.
• Elimination Final (or Minor Semi Final)- The third placed
side plays the fourth placed side with the winner proceeding to
the preliminary final whilst the loser is eliminated
• Preliminary Final- The loser from the Major semi-final plays
the winner from the Elimination Final. The winner progresses
to the Grand Final and the loser is eliminated.
24.2 MINOR PREMIERS
The team occupying the highest position at the conclusion of the preliminary rounds
shall be the minor premiers
24.3 TEAMS EQUAL ON POINTS
a) If two or more teams have equal competition points at the end of the
competition rounds (including at the end of the one day rounds) the
positions will be determined by the highest Team quotient.
b) In the Twenty20 competition, the teams will be determined by Net Run
Rate.
24.4 CALCULATION OF TEAM QUOTIENT
The team quotient shall be determined by dividing the batting average (total runs
scored divided by total wickets lost) by the bowling average (total runs scored
against divided by total wickets taken)

24.5 CALCULATION OF NET RUN RATE
A teams Net Run Rate (NRR) is calculating by deducting the average runs per over
scored against the team from the average runs per over scored by the team. (I.e.
NRR= Team run rate per over less the Opposing Team run rate per over)
• In the event of a team being dismissed in less than its full quota of overs, the
calculation of its run rate is based on the full quota of overs to which it’s
entitled.
• For the purpose of NRR calculations, each ball bowled shall count as one
sixth (1/6) of an over
24.6 VENUE FOR FINAL MATCHES
• For the duration of the Finals Series, all playing venues will be determined by the BDCA Match Committee.

25 MATCH SCORECARDS
25.1 BDCA SCOREBOOKS
Scoring for all matches shall be in accordance with the BDCA “Guidelines for
Scoring” and only the official BDCA Scorebooks are to be used in any BDCA
competitions, unless prior approval has been granted by the BDCA Secretary.
25.2 LEGIBILITY AND ACCURACY OF SCORESHEETS
• It is required that all scoresheets be accurate and legible, as these may be
needed by the Match Review Committee to determine a result in the event of
a disputed match.
• If the scoresheets are illegible and the result is disputed, the matter will be
referred to the match review committee.
25.3 ENTERING RESULTS INTO MYCRICKET WEBSITE
a) All teams in all grades are required to enter ALL match results (including
catches) and players’ scores into the MyCricket Website by midnight on
Tuesday following the completion of the match.
b) The match result must be entered and confirmed by both sides after the
completion of the match.
c) Failure to enter either match result or players scores by midnight Tuesday
after the completion of the match will result in a loss of 1 competition point
AND a fine of $50 (to be invoiced with next instalment of Club fees).
d) If a side repeatedly fails to enter their result this may lead to expulsion
from the competition and will have to explain to the Match Review
Committee.

26 ALTERATION TO MATCH RULES
26.1 THESE RULES MAY BE AMENDED PRIOR TO THE START OF THE SEASON BY
NOTICE IN WRITING TO THE BDCA MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE
26.2 AFTER THE COMMENCEMENT OF THE COMPETITION, MATCH RULES MAY
BE CHANGED AT A GENERAL OR DELEGATES MEETING OF THE BDCA
AND CARRIED WITH A 2/3 MAJORITY. OR AS DEEMED NECESSARY BY THE
MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE
26.3 RULES NOT COVERED MAY BE DEALT WITH THE BDCA MANAGEMENT
COMMITTEE AND THEIR DECISION SHALL BE FINAL.
