F U N C T I ON A L D E C O R doubles as elegant furniture in this master ensuite by Alexandra Donohoe Church of Decus Interiors thanks to the tall, arched silhouettes and cloud-like, but not overcast, colour scheme. “The layout of this ensuite was designed to enable the vanity and mirror to stand front and centre to the door so that the view from the master bedroom was a beautiful, seemingly standalone piece of furniture. In terms of materiality, the soft, gentle greys of the colour palette in the bedroom were swept through this ensuite, offering a quiet space for retreat. For continuity, we specified the same Carrara marble for the floor tiles, wall tiles and vanity top, with the base colour matched to the paint on the joinery units and walls.” What luxury items did you choose for this bathroom regardless of budget? “The mirrored cabinets and vanity. In terms of materiality, the Calacatta Oro marble was key to introducing warmth into the scheme while maintaining a connection to the rest of the home’s palette.
