Bottles will NOT be supplied for Classes OC1, OC2 & OC3.
Class OC1 TWO BOTTLES OF DRY CIDER (Specific gravity up to 1.005) carbonation permitted.
Class OC2 TWO BOTTLES OF MEDIUM CIDER (Specific gravity 1.005 to 1.012) carbonation permitted.
Class OC3 TWO BOTTLES OF SWEET CIDER (Specific gravity up to 1.012 and above) carbonation permitted.
Class OC4 TWO BOTTLES OF WOOD AGED CIDER Wood Aged Ciders are barrel-fermented or barrel-aged in which the wood and/or barrel character is a notable part of the overall flavour profile. The use of woodchips is not permitted.
Class OC5 TWO BOTTLES OF CIDER Judged on the presentation of the bottle and taste of the cider.
Class OC6 TWO BOTTLES OF BOTTLE FERMENTED CIDER Aged for more than one year, with the yeast disgorged. Presented in 75cl full weight champagne bottles, with a wired down cork or plastic mushroom stopper. To be judged chilled.
Class OC7 TWO BOTTLES OF NATURALLY SWEET, BOTTLE CONDITIONED CIDER Made using the process known as keeving or cidre bouche in France. Presented in 75cl full weight champagne bottles, with a wired down cork or plastic mushroom stopper. To be judged chilled.
Class OC8 TWO IDENTICAL BOTTLES OF SINGLE VARIETY CIDER
Class OC9 MODERN CIDER - TWO BOTTLES Modern Ciders are made from culinary/dessert apples and are fruity, low in tannin and generally high in acidity. Entrants must specify Dry, Medium or Sweet on their entries using a tie-on label.
(Dry SG up to 1.005, Medium SG 1.005-1.012, Sweet SG 1.012 and above)

FARMHOUSE CIDER Entry Fee - £5
To be manufactured from 2019 Cider Apple crop only, Unfiltered Cider. Entries in these classes to be judged in One Gallon or 5 Litre GLASS Demi-Johns.
Class OC14 ONE GALLON OF DRY CIDER (specific gravity up to 1.008).
Class OC15 ONE GALLON OF MEDIUM CIDER (specific gravity 1.005 up to 1.012).
Class OC16 ONE GALLON OF SWEET CIDER (specific gravity 1.012 and above).
CIDER NEWCOMER AWARD Entry Fee - £5
Class OC17 TWO BOTTLES Open to cider makers making less than 2500 litres per annum. Ciders to be manufactured according to HMRC Notice 162, may be still or carbonated, cloudy or bright, made from fresh cider or dessert apple juice during 2019.
Entries to be in two clear 75cl bottles with screw caps, bearing labels 'Sweet' (Specific gravity 1.012 or greater), 'Medium ' (Specific gravity 1.005 to 1.012) or 'Dry' (Specific gravity less than 1.005).
Cider in Classes 1 - 9 and 14 - 17 must be manufactured using apples grown in the U.K. Entries may be still or carbonated.
All UK Cider & Perry entries must conform to HMRC Notice 162.
CHAMPION PRIZES OCC1 For the Supreme British Champion Cider Selected from individual winners of Classes 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8 & 9 and the British Champion in the Farmhouse Cider Classes. OCS1 For the Best Wood Aged Cider To be awarded to the winner. The Weston's Cider Organic Cider Cup (PR34) and a Royal Bath & West Special Rosette.
OCS2 Best Cider Adjudged (Classes 5 & 8) The Arthur Davies Cider Cup (PR28) and a Royal Bath & West Special Rosette.
OCS3 For the Gold Medal winner in The Cider Newcomer Award
The Vigo Presses trophy, a £100 voucher for cider making equipment from Vigo Presses a Royal Bath & West Special Rosette.
OCS4 For Craftsmanship within the Cider Industry The Worshipful Company of Coopers Trophy (PR39).
Either enter on-line at www.bathandwest.com or complete the enclosed entry form and send it, together with your fee to the Entries Office, Bath & West Shows Limited, The Showground, Shepton Mallet BA4 6QN to arrive not later than 12:00 noon on 19 June. Cheques should be made payable to Bath & West Shows Ltd.
No entries will be accepted after the entry close dates.
Please note: As a condition of your entry limited exhibitor information will appear in the catalogue and on the Society’s website. For classes run under Breed Society rules, your details will be verified with the society concerned to ensure your eligibility to enter. Please see the Society’s website for full details of our privacy policy.
Any Exhibitor whose entry fees amount to £25.00 or more (including VAT) will be entitled to an exhibitor's day ticket. After the close of entries, you will be sent a pack containing the following:
➢ Exhibitor’s letter giving full details of when and where to deliver your exhibit(s).
➢ Pre-Show vehicle pass for Red Gate valid for Thursday 30 July only. This pass will not admit to the showground at any other time.
➢ Removal Permit (if you wish to collect your entries).
➢ Exhibitor’s Day ticket (for entry fees amounting to £25 or more).
➢ Any additional tickets which you purchased when entering.
Exhibit labels to be attached to the bottles will be e-mail to you. These should be printed using the recommended label template; see attached table for details.
Exhibits may be delivered to Brothers Drinks Co Ltd, Anglo Trading Estate, Shepton Mallet, Somerset BA4 5BY but will not be accepted before Friday 3 July and the latest any exhibit will be accepted is Friday 24 July. Alternatively exhibits will be received at the Showground from 12noon until 6:00pm on Thursday 30 July.
All exhibits will be disposed of unless specified. Any exhibit not collected by 6:00pm on Sunday will become the property of the Show and will be disposed of.
Exhibits may be removed after 4:00pm (subject to approval by the Competition Steward) on the last day of the Show.

Entries: 1. Entries may be made:
(a) Online at www.bathandwest.com. Online entries close 19 June at 12:00noon and no entries will be accepted after this date.
(b) On the printed form contained in the schedule, which should be forwarded with the correct fee to the Entries Office, Bath and West Shows Limited, The Showground, Shepton Mallet, Somerset, BA4 6QN to be received not later than 19 June.

2. Any Exhibitor whose entry fees amount to £25.00 or more (including VAT) will be entitled to an exhibitor's day ticket.
3. Apple Juice must not be carbonated or flavoured.
4. Pear Cider will NOT be accepted in Classes 11 & 12.
5. Bottles will NOT be supplied for Classes OC1, OC2 & OC3. Two clear 50cl OR 75cl bottles to be used.
6. Cider entered in Classes 13 to 15 must be unfiltered, exhibited in 1 gallon or 5 litre GLASS demi-johns, and fermented using apple juice during 2019. The addition of sugar to sweeten entries in the three classes is permitted.
If you wish to enter carbonated cider in Classes 1, 2 or 3, decant your cider as follows:
• Chill your entries to approximately 3°C.
• When fully chilled, transfer the cider to the sterilised 75cl bottle and apply the closure immediately. This will minimise any loss of carbonation and not compromise product quality.
7. Cider Newcomer Award:
Class OC16, is open to cider makers making less than 2500 litres per annum. Ciders to be manufactured according to HMRC Notice 162, may be still or carbonated, cloudy or bright, made from fresh cider or dessert apple juice during 2019.
Judging will take place on Friday 31 July at 2:00pm.
The judges will provide written feedback to all entrants on their ciders, giving constructive comments on the attributes of each cider. Gold, Silver and Bronze awards may be presented.
The Gold Medal winner will also receive the “Vigo Presses” trophy and a £100 voucher for cider making equipment from Vigo Presses.
Competitors may only win a Gold Medal award twice, thereafter they will be expected to enter the main cider classes.

Delivery & Removal 8. Exhibits may be delivered to Brothers Drinks Co Ltd, Anglo Trading Estate, Shepton Mallet, Somerset BA4 5BY but
will not be accepted before Friday 3 July and the latest any exhibit will be accepted is Friday 24 July.
Alternatively exhibits will be received at the Showground from 12noon until 6:00pm on Thursday 30 July.
No exhibit whatever shall have its position altered or be removed from the stand, after having been staged, except with the sanction of the Organiser.

9. Every reasonable care will be taken of exhibits, but the Show will not be responsible for any loss or damage that may occur.
10. Unless specified, all will be disposed of, and any exhibits not collected by 6:00pm on Sunday 2 August, will become the property of the Show and will be disposed of at their discretion. If specified, exhibits may be removed after 4:00pm, (subject to approval by the Competition Steward) on the last day of the Show.
Judging: 11. The Judges have the power to withhold a Prize from any class through insufficient merit.
12. No exhibit may be tasted, or in any way interfered with, whilst on the Show bench by the exhibitor or any other person, unless accompanied by the Competitions Steward.
13. Over time, judges are drawn from all parts of the country in order to include experience and preference over a full range of taste and regional variations.
14. Judges have the freedom to draw upon their own experience and competence in assessing ciders, without necessarily being bound by any particular formula or system of points for individual cider characteristics.
15. Judges are not able to provide feedback on individual exhibits, however, any exhibitor wishing for such information, are invited to attend the various clinics held daily throughout the show or speak to the Competition Steward.
Prizes: 16. Cheques for prizes (where awarded) will be sent by post to the winner two weeks after the end of Show. Objections: 17. Any Exhibitor wishing to lodge an objection having reference to an entry exhibited at this Show must make the same
in writing on a form to be obtained from the Show Office and deposit the sum of £50. If, on investigation, the objection is not sustained to the satisfaction of the Disqualifying Committee, the sum thus deposited shall, at the discretion of the Show, be forfeited to the funds of the Show. All objections must be delivered at the Show Office on the Showground on the day on which the award is made, and no objection will be SUBSEQUENTLY received, unless a reason, satisfactory to the Disqualifying Committee, be assigned for the delay. The Disqualifying Committee will consider such objections at a time and place to be fixed by them, at which time and place any person making an objection must attend or be represented by his/her authorised agent. The decision of the Disqualifying Committee shall be final.
Presentations: 18. The Cider, Perry and Apple Juice Competition Trophies will be presented on Friday 31 July. The Orchards & Cider
Committee request that winners be available to collect their prizes at the presentation and to give interviews if required. Please note all winners are required to sign for their trophies at the Cup Room in the Showering Pavilion.
19. Exhibitors wishing to have trophies engraved should do so at their own cost, but any engraving must be similar in size, style and layout to previous engravings to ensure consistency. The Show will seek reimbursement for the cost of repairing any damage caused to trophies through mishandling or engraving.
Health & Safety: 20. Exhibitors are reminded that they must conform to the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 (as
amended); Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations 2002 (DSERA) and other relevant Health and Safety legislation. Exhibitors must also comply with The Equalities Act (formerly The Disability and Discrimination Act); the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order Act 2005; the Health Act 2006 incorporating the Smokefree Legislation.
21. Smoking, including vaping, is prohibited in all buildings. Environmental Health Officers and Trading Standards Officers will be in attendance at the Show and, together with Stewards, have the authority to take appropriate enforcement action.
