Bastille Digipak Analysis The front cover for the album is very distinguishable as it includes the main singer running away in the middle of a road. This is very unusual as the lead singer is usually very prominent on the cover of the Digipak because it helps sell the cover. The fact that Bastille have gone for a completely different style is intriguing and adds a sense of mystery as the album cover looks very individual. One thing that Bastille have on all of their albums / EP covers, is the same font in the title. They also use a triangle instead of the letter “A” on all of their album covers which helps give a brand image. Whenever you see the certain font with the triangle used instead of an A you instantly think of Bastille, as long as you have seen one of their previous covers. As the lead singer is on the front but his face cannot be seen, I think this implies that he is the iconic member of the band, but he does not want it to be all about himself. He is running in the middle of a dark road and the effect is that we are in a car that is driving after him. This could symbolise being chased or trying to run away from something, themes which are included within the songs. They are an indie band so another thing that this may represent is running away from “normal” music because they are seen to be different from other bands. The heavy use of black and yellow in two of the three covers, gives a dark feel to the albums and therefore the band. I think the dark tone works well with Bastille, as their music is not seen as being the most upbeat.

Bastille Digipak Analysis

The front cover for the album is very distinguishable as it includes the main singer running away in the middle of a road. This is very unusual as the lead singer is usually very prominent on the cover of the Digipak because it helps sell the cover. The back cover is as intriguing as the front, as we can now see the car that was presumably the car that was chasing the lead singer on the front. The same colours are being used and we can see the headlights on the car. We are seeing the same situation but from the lead singers perspective. The fact that we cannot fully see the car however is also intriguing because it really makes the headlights stand out with the bright light shining directly onto us. Something that is kept is the lettering style with the triangles. As you can see, just as with the front cover whenever a letter “A” is needed a triangle is used instead. This helps give the band an indie feel and helps establish them from other bands. Overall I think the use of this style of Digipak is good and I think I will be using elements of this within my own Digipak.
