Please note that the printing deadline for this Bulletin was June 30. Family Mass and Parish Picnic - On page 8 of today's bulletin is a full page flyer giving the details of our Family Mass and Picnic that the parish will host on Sunday, August 27th beginning with Mass at 12:00 Noon in Szot Park. Like last year, there will be no charge to attend and all of the food, beverages and games will be FREE. Likewise, Piotr and Ela Soja, this year's Chairpersons along with the Picnic Committee are planning to have plenty of activities for the youngest as well as those of us who have a few more years under our belts. If you would

like to volunteer to help make this year's event another great success please contact Peter and Ela at (413) 329-7531 or [email protected]. You can also fill out the Volunteer Form on page 3. In order to plan adequately, for food in particular, we ask that you please fill out the reservation form at the bottom of the flyer on page 8 of the bulletin. Your response by August 13th will help the committee greatly. I hope that everyone will join us and whisper a little prayer for favorable weather! St. Stanislaus School - While school just finished a few weeks ago the school is looking ahead to the last Monday in August and the next school year. As such, the school continues to accept applications for the 2017-18 School Year for all grades from Pre-K 3 through the 8th Grade. Visit www.st.stanislaus.mec.edu for admission info and current school news. You can also call the school at (413) 592-5135 to arrange for a tour.

Religious Education Classes Registration - Religious Education Classes for 2017-18 for Grades 1 - 8 will begin on September 9th. Registrations are now be-ing accepted. The fees will remain the same once again for next year: one child - $45; two children - $80; three or more children - $100. The non-parishioner fee is $95 per child. If you register by Monday, August 7th, the fee is $10 less per child. If cost is an issue contact me so we can make it possible for your child to come to classes. Registration Forms are available on the parish website www.ststansbasilica.org. Just click on Religious Ed across the top of the page. Forms can also be picked up at the Parish Office. If a child will be new to the

program you will also need to submit a copy of his/her baptismal certificate if your child was not baptized at St. Stan's. Attention Young Adults - The Pope Wants to Hear from You! - Pope Francis has indicated that in October of 2018 he will convene a Synod of Bishops, a worldwide meeting of Catholic bishops to be held at the Vatican. The focus of the Synod will be the youth of the Church and will carry the theme: “Young people, the faith and discernment of voca-tion.” The statement announcing the 2018 Synod said it will focus on how to “accompany youth in their existential path towards maturity through a process of discernment so they can discover their life goals and realize them with joy, open-ing themselves up to an encounter with God.” To involve young people in the preparations for the Synod of Bishops, young people between the ages of 16 to 29 are invited to participate in an online questionnaire that has been created by the Vatican. The purpose of the questionnaire is to better understand the lives, attitudes and concerns of 16 to 29-year-olds around the world. Young people from all backgrounds and faith traditions are encouraged to participate. The link to the questionnaire can be found here: https://survey-synod2018.glauco.it/limesurvey/index.php/147718. To view the questionnaire in English, change the drop down box in the top right corner of the page to “English”. Additional information about the questionnaire can be found on the Catholic News Service website at https://cnstopstories.com/2017/06/14/vatican-releases-online-questionnaire-for-youth/. A link to the Vatican website can be found by clicking here: http://youth.synod2018.va/content/synod2018/it.html.

Parish Annual Gift (Dues) Update - Due to the early printing deadline for this bulletin I cannot offer too much of an update on our Annual Gift drive. As of June 26th we have received about $56,240 from 837 families. Last year's total was $69,275 which had been donated by 949 families. In addition, we have received additional gifts from 161 parish-ioners beyond the $50 per adult totaling $12,575. Even though June 30th will have come and gone by the time you read this if you have not yet submitted your Annual Gift, or “Parish Dues” as these gifts had been previously known, you can of course still do so and I would ask you to please do so. I am very grateful for your generosity and helping us meet our obligations. May the Lord bless you for helping take care of His house and this parish. Annual Catholic Appeal - This year’s Annual Catholic Appeal (ACA) for the Diocese of Springfield, whose theme was One Family, Many Gifts began at the beginning of Lent. As of June 21st, 397 of our parishioners have made donations

Page 3: BASILICA OF ST. STANISLAUS, B.M.full page flyer giving the details of our Family Mass and Picnic that the parish will host on Sunday, August 27th beginning with Mass at 12:00 Noon

PAGE THREE

and pledges totaling $57,023 which is just short of last year’s total of $57,559. The average gift was $143.63. Through the Many Gifts donated the needs of so many in our One Family will be able to be met. Thank you for being an expression of the Lord’s mercy to some of our least broth-ers and sisters. This will be my last update on this year’s ACA. Final Thoughts - Everyone in the AL East is treading water these days, at least at the end of June that was the case. No one is breaking away from the pack. It just might stay that way for the whole season. Looking for a place to go to Mass while out of town? Go to Masstimes.org. Have a blessed week!

B I U L E T Y N Parafialny - 9 lipiec 2017

14 Niedziela zwykła - rok A

Zygmunt Kałużyński przyznaje, że w swoim życiu kieruje się zasadami chrześcijańskimi: „Jezus mówi, że dwie najważniejsze to kochać Boga i kochać bliźniego”. I dodaje: „Na to Wolter

Z niepowodzeń jakich doświadczam, ucz mnie pokory i miłości bliźniego, zapraszając do spieszenia innym z pomocą i pociechą. W cierpieniach fizycznych - ucz, jak być cierpliwym. W bezsennej nocy - włóż w moje ręce różaniec lub Ewangelię. W samotności - daj mi poznać, że jesteś ze mną. W zniechęceniu i apatii- bądź bodźcem do działania z miłości do Ciebie. W żalu i rozpaczy - poucz, ż jesteś jedyną moją ostoją i nadzieją.

SUMMERTIME LECTIO DIVINA IN FOREST PARK will take place on Saturdays at 9:30 a.m. dur-ing the summer months. Contemplate the Bible read-ing of the coming Sunday in the natural beauty of Spring-field’s Forest Park. We read it, hear it, meditate on it. Share your thoughts and hear others’ thoughts. Meet in the Picknelly Field parking lot on Rt. 5. We go to near-by benches by the stream for our sacred hour. The Bi-ble passage will be supplied, but bring your Bible if you wish. The convener is Ben of Mt. Carmel Parish, e-mail [email protected]. Keep updated at meetup.com.
