Basic Sentence According to Structure

• Simple Sentence

- Subject and verb

- Composed of single independent clause

Example:

The bird built a nest

The boy climbed the tree

• Compound Sentence

- Composed of two or more independent clauses joined by coordinating conjunction.

Example:

I love my family and my friends

I love his whole personality but, I hate the way he dresses

• Complex Sentence

- Composed of one independent clause andone dependent clause joined by subordinatingconjunction.

Example:

The cake which was baked by Ann is truly delicious.

The hotel where I spent last was inconvenient.

• Compound-Complex Sentence

- Composed of two independent clauses and one dependent clause.

Example:

Ataneo de Manila which is a catholic school university, caters to academic excellence and it is located in Katipunan Avenue.

The girl that I watched last night was gracefully dancing and successfully passed the audition to Pilipino Got Talent .
