So much so that when I called him Monday evening after we were able to match up times, he hesitated for a few seconds when I asked him where he was. “Airports get pretty repetitive,” he said after telling me he was in Portland, awaiting a flight out of the City of Roses. The future for Iverson, a Yankton native, is looking rather rosey these days. The 7-foot center is projected by many websites to be selected in the June 27 NBA Draft, although he tries to remain humble about that po- tential. Iverson has already visited 14 NBA teams, including Monday’s workout with the Portland Trail Blazers, and he is scheduled to work out for three more by the end of the week. Such is life for a professional prospect. Iverson goes from airport to hotel to meetings back to airports, and then it’s off to a new city for the same cycle. Though you might imagine he’s getting road weary or homesick, Iverson was clear Monday that, no, don’t worry, he’s loving it. “I’m definitely taking full advantage of it,” he said. If nothing else, it’s good practice for if he does get drafted next week. As an NBA player, he would constantly be traveling; always moving from one city to the next. Whatever happens for him next week, Iverson has a whole community rooting for him. (AP) — A former coach at Valley City State University has been named commissioner of the new North Star Athletic Association. Cory Anderson is a former head baseball coach and assistant football coach for the Vikings. He most recently served as execu- tive director of the James River Family YMCA in Jamestown. The new NAIA conference is being formed by five schools in the Dakotas — Dakota State, Jamestown College, Mayville State, Presentation and Valley City State. able difference, Dylan said, the physicality was a change. One other player eventually selected, Kris Shannon from Sugarland, Texas, stands 6-feet-7 out of his wheelchair and bench-pressed between 270-280 pounds at last week’s tests, Dylan said. The other members of the U23 team, coached by Lew Shaver, in- clude: Jacob Tyree (Salem, Va.), John Boie (Milton, Wis.), Robert Gordon (St. Petersburg, Fla.), Ryan Neiswender (Lebanon, Penn.), Derrick Bisnett (Bis- marck, N.D.), Connor Downes (Rosemount, Minn.), Matt Golem- beski (San Diego, Calif.), Corey Rossi (Canton, Mich.), Jorge Sanchez (Doublin, Calif.) and Jacob Williams (Milwaukee, Wis.). With violent protests taking place in Turkey over the past few weeks, there is naturally a con- cern about safety of athletes headed over there in the fall, Dylan said. “We’re a little worried about what’s going on over there, but they’ll take care of us,” he said. “Stuff like that will help us be comfortable; getting away from all the fighting and stuff.” For Fischbach himself, he said all his athletic exploits over the years are still a little surreal. “It’s all been a shock,” he said. “Growing up, I didn’t think I could be an athlete, but hopefully this shows people that you can com- pete at a high level.” Through all his success, Fis- chbach has tried to remain level- headed. “It’s humbling,” he said. “I was raised well; I definitely have that on my side. I’ve had great team- mates and players all these years.” You can follow Jeremy Hoeck on Twitter at twitter.com/ jhoeck 716 Pine • 605.661.0987 Opening Opening O pening FORT KNOX Soon! Soon! Soon! How often has Colton Iverson been on the road?So much so that when I called him Monday evening after we were able to match up times, he hesitated for

a few seconds when I asked him where he was.“Airports get pretty repetitive,” he said after telling me he was in Portland, awaiting a flight out of the City of

Roses. The future for Iverson, a Yankton native, is looking rather rosey these days. The 7-foot center is projected

by many websites to be selected in the June 27 NBA Draft, although he tries to remain humble about that po-

tential.Iverson has already visited 14 NBA teams, including Monday’s workout with the Portland Trail Blazers, and

he is scheduled to work out for three more by the end of the week.Such is life for a professional prospect. Iverson goes from airport to hotel to meetings back to airports, and

then it’s off to a new city for the same cycle. Though you might imagine he’s getting road weary or homesick,Iverson was clear Monday that, no, don’t worry, he’s loving it.

“I’m definitely taking full advantage of it,” he said.If nothing else, it’s good practice for if he does get drafted next week. As an NBA player, he would constantly

be traveling; always moving from one city to the next.Whatever happens for him next week, Iverson has a whole community rooting for him.

The other members of the U23team, coached by Lew Shaver, in-clude: Jacob Tyree (Salem, Va.),John Boie (Milton, Wis.), RobertGordon (St. Petersburg, Fla.),Ryan Neiswender (Lebanon,Penn.), Derrick Bisnett (Bis-marck, N.D.), Connor Downes(Rosemount, Minn.), Matt Golem-beski (San Diego, Calif.), CoreyRossi (Canton, Mich.), JorgeSanchez (Doublin, Calif.) andJacob Williams (Milwaukee,Wis.).

With violent protests taking

place in Turkey over the past fewweeks, there is naturally a con-cern about safety of athletesheaded over there in the fall,Dylan said.

“We’re a little worried aboutwhat’s going on over there, butthey’ll take care of us,” he said.“Stuff like that will help us becomfortable; getting away fromall the fighting and stuff.”

For Fischbach himself, he saidall his athletic exploits over theyears are still a little surreal.

“It’s all been a shock,” he said.“Growing up, I didn’t think I couldbe an athlete, but hopefully thisshows people that you can com-pete at a high level.”

Through all his success, Fis-chbach has tried to remain level-headed.

“It’s humbling,” he said. “I wasraised well; I definitely have thaton my side. I’ve had great team-mates and players all theseyears.”
