Bar Sec

Hi I’m Simon, a 3rd year astrophysicist who quite possibly spends too much time in the Bar already so I think it’s only right that I do something to give back to an institution that has given me so much!

I have been working the bar regularly since the earliest opportunity in my first year and so I have plenty of experience of how the bar operates on a day-to-day basis. On top of this I was also Bar Committee Assistant in 2009/2010. Being a previous member of the bar committee means that I will know what to do from day one. Most importantly I was part of the working group set up in the wake of pressure by college council in Michaelmas of last year. This means that already I have the experience of dealing with senior members of college which will be vital in the day to day running of the bar as well as for fighting for the bar to remain open and student-run in the future.

One of the best parts of the role as Bar Sec is the choice of what we serve. If elected I would try to keep this as democratic as possible so if enough people were to email me about a certain drink I would try my best to source it for the bar.

I am organised, reliable and committed to the bar. If elected as bar sec I would strive to improve and fight for the great institution that is Sidney Bar!
