We’d like to celebrate you with a toast and warm wishes. All are welcome, but if you’re celebrating a birthday this month, you are definitely our guest of honor! This is a great time to get out, enjoy great music, fun fellowship and some really, really good cake. So mark your calendar and plan to join us on the third Wednesday of the month. We will see you in the Gathering Place at 3:00pm on Wednesday, February 19. Be sure to wish the following folks a great birthday! This will be a fun educational event complete with, prizes, snacks, free screenings and a raffle. This home health care agency will be here sharing tips to keep you safe from falls. Meet us in the Library. Be sure to invite your neighbors. Largo Middle School Valentines Party Join us the morning of Feb. 14 at 10:30 in the Gathering Place as we make Valentines and enjoy cookies with the special students of Largo Middle School. These children and teachers are very super, if you have never interacted with this class you’re missing a blessing! Come experience Valentine love from our back yard neighbors . Valentine Festivities’! We will start this party with guess the couple! We will be showing old wedding photos starting at 2:00 trying to guess who! Following the Guess who plan to do something real special. This Valentine’s day, you can renew your wedding Vows! Friday, Feb. 14 at 2:30 the ceremony will start! We will be taking wedding photos, and a very special reception will follow! Be sure to let Kelly or Mike know if you are interested and we will see you in the Gathering Place! Super Bowl Party Sunday evening, Feb. 2 at 6:30 The Barrington will host a Super Bowl Party! Kick off will be a 6:30, we will have drinks, snacks, and great fellowship. This party will be sponsored by Bayada, hosted by Mary Jane ! We all know that she knows how to party. Mark your calendar and be sure to come on down to the Gathering Place and root for your favorite team. Super Sundae Social On a Monday, Feb.24, Flag Day at 2:00 Reese Funeral home will be here to sponsor an old fashion ice cream sundae social. We will meet in the Gathering Place to enjoy these sweet treats. We will also hear about “Old Glory”..…The Story of Our American Flag. Our flag is a universal symbol of freedom and a source of great pride for millions of Americans. In this presentation by Reese Funeral Home, attendees will learn about the origins of the flag and the meaning behind its design. They will also hear about Francis Scott Key’s Star-Spangled Banner and the famed flag that inspired his pen. Happy February Barrington Friends and Family! When I think of February I think of Valentine’s Day and Love. Valentine’s Day is popularly believed to have been named for Saint Valentine. Saint Valentine was imprisoned for performing weddings for soldiers who were forbidden to marry and for ministering to Christians, who were persecuted under the Roman Empire. During his imprisonment, Saint Valentine is said to have healed the daughter of his jailer, Asterius. Legend states that before his execution he wrote her a letter and signed it “Your Valentine” as a farewell. Even in the face of death, Saint Valentine showed nothing but love. My hope for the residents and staff at The Barrington is to have a month full of love and kindness. Often times an understanding nod, smile, or encouraging word can make all the difference in the life of another. I hope that we show love not only to our significant others and family, but also to our neighbors. In closing, I would like to leave you with one of my favorite quotes, “To live without loving is not really to live” –Moliere. Note From the Executive Director Hunka, Hunka, Burning Love Party! Thursday, Feb. 20, starting at 6:00 in the Gathering Place we will be thrilled by the sounds of ELVIS! Yes you will hear all of your favorite songs from the King! We will have an Elvis impersonator, plenty of delicious snacks, and very special drinks. Lifetime Videos Have you ever wanted capture your family history, share your military experiences, tell your grandkids about you birth place? If your answer is yes or if you have a little curiosity about this, come check it out. Michael West from Lifetime Videos will be here explaining your opportunity to capture those memories on a video and share them with your love ones. Come meet Michael on Monday Feb. 10 at 1:30 in the Gathering Place to learn more about this exciting memory event.
