The 1950 Class had a Friday night get together at the home of classmate, Jo Bar-nes Oliver, and her husband, Jack, with an appetizer bar and drinks for all. Saturday morning they met at the train station where Jane Meller Boeldt and her husband, Al, had outfitted their truck fitting the Harry Potter theme. Dick Rippy’s wife, Linda, provided costumes which were terrific. After the parade, they met at the Canteen for lunch and shared memories. After lunch they went to Marlene Du Chesne Tourville’s home to chat more and hang out until the dinner at The Garlands where 14 classmates and spouses attended. There were 57 in the graduating class. Those who came the farthest were Lois Heidke Thompson from New Mexico, Mary Lou Buschek from Las Vegas, Ellen Kleinsmith Weber and Helen Pifner Tedford from Arkansas. Classmate and pho-tographer, Jim Herrlin, took lots of photos to help remind the happy group of their friends. They are planning for the 65th!

CLASS OF 1955 REUNION A good time was had by all returning alums. They gathered at 111 Grille on Friday night for cocktails, dinner and renewing friendships. A hardy group braved the cold for the parade on Saturday morning riding in style in Dudley Welch’s shiny, red truck and Bruce Dockery’s 1956 Chevy Sta-tion Wagon. Many enjoyed the tail gate party at 111 Grille and ex-Bronco, Ron Heidke watched the game. The dinner celebration at Millrose on Sat-urday night was festive with lots of talk about enjoying retirement. A spe-cial toast went to Robin Sittig and Dick Thomas for their January wed-ding.

Lois Heidke Thompson, Helen Piffner Tedford, Marlene DuChesne Tourville, Janet Parmalee Nolan, Jane Meller Boeldt and Mary Lou Busehek Riley.

75 members of the class of 1960 met at the Onion Pub for appe-tizers and cocktails. The fol-lowing morning over 30 mem-bers participated in the pa-rade. Saturday evening 88 members of the class dined on a dinner buffet at Millrose Res-taurant and partied into the night. This is a remarkable turn out for a class that gradu-ated 212 students in 1960 and speaks to the hard and dedi-cated work of Steve Merkle and Carol Langos, their Chairs.

First row Bob Laughton, Wayne Amy, Sydney (Lynn) Amy, Nancy (Lager) Angerer, Barb (Wolthausen) Hamm, Mike Mervis (in B Jacket) Carolyn Wangelin, Penny (Stephen) Cuttone, Akiko, Penny (Traecy) Stevensen, Jim Kaufman, Dick Davis, Bill Landwer with the beard.

Second row from nearest: Darlene (Avery) McLean, Pierce Foresberg, Sharon (Baade) Bullock, Carolyn (Dott) Muse, Jeff Armstrong, John Renshaw, Phil Freund and Trish (Kelly) Riggio.

Third row from nearest: Jack Schweitert, Tom Mock, Gary Schneider, Peter Barile, Dick Huss, John Kiggins, Wynne Ann (Dahl) Walsh the last person.

Carol Langos Kalden-berger, Steve Merkle and Susan (Kittredge) Hathaway.

On Friday afternoon, October 1, 2010 the Class of 1965 kicked off its reunion celebration with a golf outing at Palatine Hills Country Club. Among the participants were Alisa Edwards, Bert Frey, Rick Watson, Gail Carty, Chris Meiners and Mary Montgomery.

That evening 47 classmates met at 111 Grille to enjoy the company and companionship of their old and dear friends. Many of the attendees had not been seen since the 10th reunion. When the cleaning crew vacuumed around them sometime after midnight, the party broke up for the night.

At 9:00 am the following morning a dozen or more class-mates boarded a pickup truck and rode through town in the homecoming parade. The weather was brisk and their spirits were high.

After Lunch at 111 Grille and a class picture, some were off to watch the exciting game in which the Broncos re-mained undefeated.

Millrose Restaurant and Brewery was the venue for the Saturday night gathering. In a private room 50 alumni were treated to delicious hor d’ oeuvres and an assort-ment of cocktails. They danced to the tunes of the mid-sixties long into the night.

Thanks were given to the organizers Betsy Jensen, Gail Carty, Mike Cameron, Kay Geary, Gigi Brandstra-tor, Susan Glassman and Phil Rost. A special thanks to Chris Brady for the class picture.

Class of 1980 Reunion Thanks to the many hours of hard work by their Commit-tee and Chairwomen Sue Sinnett Koedoot and Amanda Von Drak van Marwicjk Kooy, their 30th reunion was a well attended success. Cary Country Club was the site of the start to their celebration with a golf outing under sunny skies. Wool Street in Barrington was the selected venue for the Friday night gathering which featured David Mazzie, their classmate, providing the entertainment with songs and guitar. At 10:15 am Saturday morning the group assembled at the train station parking lot as pic-tured to the left. Their hay-wagon was driven by Bill Cov-ers which, following the parade delivered them to 111 Grille. Saturday evening from 7:30 to 1:00 am the atten-dees enjoyed a dinner buffet at The Onion Pub where their DJ played all the right music, so much so, the festivities had to be extended beyond their allotted time. In all 150 classmates participated.

Class of ‘90 Reunion

Their main event on Friday night was held at Pinstripes in South Barrington from 7pm-12am. They had 130 attend, all had a great time catch-ing up with old friends, dancing and drinking! They had their senior pictures on their name tags which made for some good laughs. Also, a slide show ran throughout the night with old high school photos. A memorabilia table was setup with yearbooks, their senior class picture, old Round Ups and football programs. Chris Thompson and Chris Currie from the class of ‘89 were kind enough to help them man their registration table so that the committee could enjoy the event. A few teachers stopped by to say hello, Madame Sandburg, John Snow and Diane Kostick.

On Saturday they had a float in the parade packed with alumni on the float. They ordered banners to hang on the side and 111 Grille took care of the flat bed. After the parade, a group went to the high school for the tour. They were too late for the arranged tour, but recruited a student to show them around. They asked the student what the best senior prank has been in the past and he said the class that let the pigs loose...well that was them, the class of ‘90. The group got a kick out of that. After the football game, their Saturday event began at 4 p.m. at 111 Grille for hors d'oeurves and drinks. They also enjoyed the music from their very own classmate Ashok War-rior's band Holding Mercury.

Coach Andy Kostick passed away on October 14, 2010. He is survived by his wife, Diane, his chil-dren, Yuri ‘90 and Jolie ‘93 and three grandsons.

Kelly Pietrazek Trapp ’90 spoke at his memorial service in the following words. “To me, and many others here today, Andy was known as Coach Kos-tick. For 32 years he taught, coached, encouraged and cheered on the teenagers of our town. Coach Kostick and his “wheesle”, the cherished whistle that hung around his neck, were a part of every BHSers high school experience from 1960 to 1992. He was a teacher that had the perfect balance of discipline and enthusiasm….you knew that when you went to his class you were bound to have some fun….you also knew that if you blew off that class, your parents would hear about it.

He encouraged his students and athletes to train hard, work with heart, and have fun doing it. But perhaps more than that and what was evident to all of us was the investment he had in each and

every student he came in contact with. He took his time and his energy and he gave it to us…a commitment to help us improve ourselves and to ultimately believe in ourselves out on the playing fields and in the gym. He taught us with heart and that was what set him apart.

It was his energy that was most intoxicating to us, his students. I think if we had to describe it, I would say it was something we saw in him that radiated out toward us, there was a shine in him that seemed to light him up…every single day. He sparkled. His cheerfulness and positiv-ity were unwavering. He was always shining and we were lucky enough to bask in the light. He gave us his time, energy, and sparkle, asking only in return that we give our best in our athletic endeavors- I wonder if there is a greater gift than that.

We are lucky, for his light and shine carry on in those who were touched by it-for it always seemed tangible, something we could aspire to. There has to be a part of every student of his who would love to have just a smidge of his cheer and good nature. I see his shine carried on the most in his grandsons, three boys whose energy and enthusiasm too seem unwavering. I wish for them an understanding of who that came from and a knowing that is a gift to be shared with others…something their grandfather did so effortlessly.

It would be hard to determine the number of lives that have been touched by Coach Kostick…too many to count. But he was without a doubt one of the most positive, invested, enthusiastic teachers that could ever be found. He altered the lives and paths of his students always for the better and with integrity and passion. He will be missed by so many, but we remain grateful for all that he gave us.”

ANDREW KOSTICK

Memories are the legacy of love.
