Barriere termiche - TBC n The basic function of a TBC: a duplex system
n Temperature drops of up to 170°C at the metal surface have been estimated for a 150µm thick YSZ
Materiali Aerospaziali
Modern TBS’s are required to: n Limit heat transfer trough the coating
n Protect engine components from oxidation n Protect engine component from hot corrosion
n Multifunctional requirements n No single coating compositions
n Bond coat (metal based/FGM) n Top coat (ceramic based)
Materiali Aerospaziali
n Bond coat n Oxidation resistance (MCrAlY - TGO)
n Top coat n Thermal “insulation” (ceramic layer)
n Engineered system n Thermal expansion mismatch

σ = E1 (α1 – α2 )ΔT
