Ft. Smith Horse Sale & Side Pot Cancelled It is with much regret to announce Old Ft. Days Futurity Horse Sale and IN IT TO WIN IT $10K side pot have been Cancelled due to the outbreak of the Herpesvirus. Printed catalogs will be available at the Futurity in Ft. Smith. The horses in the catalog are for sale. Feel free to call the owners directly. Contact Becky Canaday with any questions you have at 316 204 5360. The Futurity starts at 8:00 AM Sharp on Thursday May 26th. The entire event is available for $7.95 pay perview at Visworks.com.

May Extreme Barrel Race Cancelled We write this letter with sincere appreciation to all of you that have been so supportive of Xtreme Barrel Racing. Horse Events Inc. made the diffi cult decision to cancel the May event due to the outbreak of EHV-1 and the fear associated with it. This was HEI’s fi rst cancelled event in the over 19 years of producing equine events. HEI staff members had 100% of the pre-paid entry fee monies including credit card fees reimbursed within 2 days of an-nouncing their diffi cult decision to cancel the May barrel race. Our 2011 dates were announced August of 2010. Our annual July 8-10th event will remain as scheduled. Our association feels disappointed that the NBHA Las Vegas Show re-scheduled on our established July date. We discussed our options of moving the date and did not fi nd a viable rescheduling option. Our decision was to keep the date we have established. HEI’s motto is constant and never ending improvement, we em-brace and drive change. New this year, the Xtreme Forecast. With a chance to win $10,000 in cash with no entry fee. Luxury vacation packages to world class equine events including the 2011 Breed-ers’ Cup and 2012 Kentucky Derby. Also back for its third year the Xtreme 15, where top contestants will vie for $10,500 in cash plus nice top 20 awards. Our commitment to excellence includes.· Safe, consistent ground conditions.

· Fast effi cient payouts.· Fast friendly barrel setters, gate help and stall crew.· Excellent payouts in a multitude of divisions.· 100% of added money paid out.· Largest unique awards package.· Fun family friendly environment.· Affordable lodging for horses and contestants.· No offi ce fees, membership fees, arena fees, etc.· Quality announcing with free live web cast.· Divisions for everyone. Cowboys and Kids included!· Three covered lit arenas.· 320 covered Noble Barns, sanitized after every event.· Excellent affordable food and lodging.· Small town feel, clean mountain air, world class production.· More chances to WIN!!! We Thank You for your support and look forward to seeing you at our next exciting event held in Salina Utah July 8-10th. Sincerely, Your HEI Family.

BRN4D Finals Rescheduled The BRN4D Finals have been rescheduled for Labor Day Weekend, September 2nd-5th, 2011 at the TRAC in Pasco. The details of the race are still being decided. For more info go to www.BRN4D.com

Shackleford Shakes Off Animal Kingdom Shackleford, pace setter in the 1 1/4-mile Kentucky Derby two weeks ago, held off Derby winner and 5-2 favorite Animal King-dom to win the $1 million Preakness Stakes by three-quarters of a length, at 12-1. The time for the 1 1/16-mile race was 1:56.4. Astrology placed third. Dialed In, beaten favorite in the Kentucky Derby, fi nished fourth. “I knew that (Animal Kingdom) was the only horse able to come get me,” said Shackleford’s rider, Jesus Castanon. But my horse was able to hold him off.” “He ran a huge race, but it looked like he needed another six-teenth of a mile,” said Animal Kingdom’s trainer, Graham Motion, referring to the one-sixteenth of a mile difference between the Kentucky Derby and Preakness. Shackleford’s trainer, Dale Romans, and Animal Kingdom’s rider, John Valezquez, each had concerns as the leaders approached the quarter pole. “I worried whether he could hang on to the fast pace,” said Ro-mans of Shackleford, who got nailed by a head, at 60-1, by Dialed In, in the stretch of the Florida Derby. “He didn’t leave the gate very good today,” said Valezquez of Animal Kingdom. “But at the quarter pole, I thought he had a chance. It was just a little too late.” Shackleford, by Forestry, was bred by his owners Michael Lauffer and W.D. Cubbedge. Lauffer paid $500,000 in 2008 for 2-year-old Rachel Alexander, who would win the 2009 Preakness for Jess Jackson, after Jackson paid Lauffer and his partner a reported $10 million for the mare. --Courtesy of www.SallyHarrison.com

Franklin RodeoNOTES W/ Christina Richman - Redding Champion Christina Richman and Xtrared have been on quite roll through the spring. After a slow winter Richman wasn’t even in the top 20 until she broke into the standings the week of April 18 and in just a month has climbed her way all the way up to #7 in the world this week. Xtrared had her hardest weekend of the year so far running 3 times over 2 days. Richman has been picking and choosing her places for Xtrared this spring so they haven’t had to run many times per weekend yet this year to get their earnings. At 9 years old Xtrared has apparently hit her stride and that might lead to a long summer for the competition.

NOTES W/ Linda Vick:Linda Vick and her dynamite team of Ar Will He Tell and KK Tulsa Express have climbed their way into the top 15 again. The last time the 64 year old Vick was in the top 15 this time of the year was in 2006 following her 2005 NFR qualifi cation. Now her and her husband Joe are enjoying the rodeo road as their retire-ment plan. They are hitting the road together and if the horses keep winning the Vicks will make their way to the 2011 NFR. Now that’s a good retirement plan!

Headin’ For HomeHeadin’ For Home By Shery Morrison By Shery Morrison Triple M (Mike Morrison Ministries) Triple M (Mike Morrison Ministries)

It takes a lot of patience to train a young horse or any animal for that matter. Some are quick learners and want to please and that makes

the job really fun. But, like people, some are slow to catch on and seem determined to irritate you. We’ve heard it said that patience is a virtue and that defi nitely is a good thing to have. The Bible has a lot to say about exercising patience as opposed to “fl ying off the handle.” It takes patience, and a lot of it, to deal with some people but, we have to remember, as Christians, the world is watching us to see how we react to situa-tions. We are the only Gospel many people will encounter and they can be led to eternal life by our actions or totally turned off by the things we do and say. God’s Word says we need patience to do the will of God and then we can have what He promised. Hebrews 6:12 tells us to imi-tate those who inherit the promises through their faith and patience. Hebrews 12:1 encourages us to “run with patience the race that is set before us.” The Bible says just the opposite about quick tempered people. Proverbs 22:24 warns us about having a friendship with an angry

man and Proverbs 29:22 says an angry mans stirs up strife. We all know it’s not much fun to be around somebody who gets mad and impatient over every little thing that doesn’t go according to that person’s liking. We need to be more like Paul who said we had learned to be content in whatever condition he was is. If we really trust God and have surrendered our lives to Him, then we can be assured that He will work everything out. We need to use patience to help family and friends see that the abundant life is available because Jesus died to redeem us! Log on to www.m-m-m.com to get teachings from us to help you or write for our free teaching CDs. If you’re in the area, come to The Barn for our Tuesday night Bible studies and our Saturday night services. Everyone is welcome!
