THE VIKING CONCEPT IN OFFSHORE BARGES
We would like to underline that apart from the obvious advantage of being units of a high standard on steel and internal coating etc., this particular design also features a uniform static deck load of 25 metric tons per square meter. This is more than double of what most competitors can offer.
Another significant improvement is the increased static point load capacity of 200 metric tons on all Intersections between the 3 longitudinal bulkheads and transverse web frames with 2286 mm spacing. On barge no. 7 and 8 this point load capacity is even increased to 260 metric tons.Combined with its increased longitudinal strength, this will provide the users with an unmatched flexibility in design and construction of additional support structures etc.
ALLOWABLE LOADS
All loads are given as static loads, i.e. including a safety factor for additional loads and yield stress distributed on an area of 1 x 1 meter. When combining the loads, the global strength, shear stresses and the effect of ballast distribution have to be evaluated for each loading case. The allowable uniform load of 25 tonnes per square meter may not be exceeded in any case. All loads are given in metric tons.
FLUSH DECK
All rigging on the deck, such as ventilators and access hatch to pumproom, can easily be removed in order to have a completely flush deck. All manholes are lowered and flush with the deck. In addition towing arrangements and anchoring system, are lowered and flush with the deck on barge number 5, 6, 7 and 8.At the aft part of deck there is a standard 20 feet container for storage of ropes etc. This container can also easily be removed if required.

SIDE VIEW
Allowable Point Load according to drawing above:
Allowable point loads 200 (260) tons on intersections of longitudinal bulkheads and transverse frames.
Allowable point loads 160 (200) tons on intersections of longituninal and transverse bulkheads and anywhere of transverse frames.
Allowable point loads 100 (130) tons on any stiffener of transverse bulkheads.
Numbers in brackets refers to Barge number 7 and 8.
