Conservation Tree Planting Program

District Cooperates with Kansas Forest Service to Offer Low-Cost Tree and

Shrub Seedlings for Use in Conservation Plantings. Orders are Taken From Early

December Through May 1, but Order Early to Insure Species Availability.

One Successful EQIP & WHIP Sign-Up

• November Application Deadline

• Assisted NRCS with Clerical Support

– Received 32 EQIP applications for 10,918 Acres

– Received 10 WHIP applications for 5,724 Acres

EQIP & WHIP• Funded 7 new contracts in the amount of

$357,016 for protecting/enhancing Soil & Water Quality Conservation.

• Funded 17 new contracts in the amount of $526,977 for improving Grasslands Health, Vigor, Providing Livestock Water, & Improving Wildlife Habitat (Brush Management, Prescribed Burning, Livestock Water Pipelines, Wells, Tanks, Prescribed Grazing Incentives, & Cross-Fencing)

• Practices Applied to Benefit Soil Quality on 1,122 Acres

• Practices Applied to Benefit Water Quality on 8,076 Acres

• Practices Applied to Benefit Grazing Lands on 22,851 Acres

• Practices Applied to Benefit Wildlife Habitat on 4,875 Acres
