Bar Harbor Community Farm is entering its eighth season growing food on Mount Desert Island. We grow over 50 varieties of certified organic vegetables on 3 acres of fields located on Norway Drive and Gilbert Farm Road. Our passion is:

• to provide you with delicious, fresh, heavenly-smelling vegetables to support your health and well-being

• to restore traditional MDI agricultural lands with sustainable, ecological practices that will maintain this precious resource forever.

• To bring friends and community together to enjoy the production of a locally grown bounty of food.

What is a CSA?

The heart of our operation is our beloved CSA community. A CSA is a commitment between farmers and community members where both share the risks and the benefits of local food production. Members pledge their support by making a payment at the beginning of the season when the bulk of farm expenditures occur. In exchange, each member receives a weekly share of the season’s harvest and the opportunity to be a part of sustainable food practices on MDI.

How does it work? In return for your pre-season financial support, you receive your share of our farm’s bounty for 16 weeks from late June to early October. Every week we send out an e-newsletter with recipes, storage information, photos, and news from the field.

Benefits • Freshly picked, premium-quality, certified organic vegetables (please visit

our website for a complete list of all the vegetables we grow) • Being a part of a growing, sustainable community reclaiming our

agricultural lands on MDI • A commitment to good health. Our members often comment on how much

healthier they are eating since they have joined. • Farm community events. We have a new barn and plan to celebrate with

music and food • Discovering new tastes and building new friendships through the

celebration of local vegetables
