Baptists are typically considered Protestant, though some Baptists

oppose this. They are a denomination of the Christian faith, and their members

are baptised to show their faith.

Page 3: Baptist Church

Minor Baptist believes will sometimes vary from church to church, but all

Baptists agree on most things:

The fact there is only one God, the Holy Trinity, the virgin mother, the

resurrection of Jesus, the need for salvation, grace and heaven.

Baptists believe Jesus will return in flesh.

PULPITSCREEN

PLATFORM

Page 6: Baptist Church

Baptist churches have the following: a cross, a screen, a platform, a baptistery,

a communion table and a pulpit.

A pulpit is where the speaker stands. Screens are for showing power points,

videos, or other things.

These were all in Zion Baptist Church.

Page 7: Baptist Church

This is a pulpit- an elevated platform at the front of the church where a member of the clergy stands to deliver a sermon, or to read the Gospel lesson.

All Baptist churches have baptistery pools, where they

baptise members of the congregation, usually at birth.

This is very an important aspect of a Baptist church.

Page 9: Baptist Church

Most churches have a cross- Baptist churches are no exception. The cross is to symbolise

Jesus’ sacrifice and resurrection.

Page 10: Baptist Church

Baptists believe in Holy Communion, where members of the congregation are given bread to eat and wine to drink; this symbolises the body and the blood of Jesus. Because of this,

Baptist churches have communion tables where this takes place.

Some Baptist churches will have platforms where performances take place.

This is used for presentations, or for the lyrics of hymns. This is usually at the front of the church. These may only be found in more modern Baptist churches, as they are not

essential.

Baptist churches are really similar to other churches. They have all the things you would expect in a church, but a big difference is the Baptistery pool, where members of baptised.
