About Worship
If the liturgy (worship) of the Episcopal Church is unfamiliar, then we hope you will find this information helpful.
You are welcome in the Episcopal Church, and so the first and best resource we offer are your neighbors in the pews. Just say, "I'm visiting," and they will gladly help.
The worship of the Episcopal Church is rooted in the practices of ancient Christianity. The structure of our services, the architecture of our building, the music, our physical postures, and participatory responses ALL hold rich meaning about our beliefs and are intentional expressions of our relationship with God.
• In this bulletin you will find:
Responses spoken by the people are printed in bold italics. Directions for the people are printed in italics.
• We encourage families with children to sit at the front of the Nave so that children can easily see and hear the liturgy.
• Episcopalians customarily pray either standing or kneeling, so please do what you find most comfortable.
• Notify an usher if you require an assisted listening device or any other assistance.
• Restrooms are located in the parish hall. An usher will direct you.
About Receiving The Holy Communion
ALL who come in faith are invited to receive Holy Communion at Saint Paul’s.
• During Communion, an usher will direct you to form a line in the center aisle. After you receive the consecrated bread, please return to your seats using the side aisles, so that you do not cross paths with those coming to receive communion.
• If you are unable to receive at the steps, the clergy will bring the bread and wine to your pew. Please notify an usher before the service begins.
• To receive a blessing without receiving Communion, cross both arms over your chest, palms on your collar. To receive the consecrated bread only, cross one arm over your chest, palm on your collar.
• If your children are in the nursery, you are invited to bring them to receive Holy Communion or a blessing.
Connect with Us
We invite you to share your contact information on a connect card, located in each pew. Hand it to one of our clergy, an usher, or place it in the offering plate. Please feel free to fill out as much as as little information as you’d like so we can connect with you.

Almighty God, you have knit together your elect in one communion and fellowship in the mystical body of your Son Christ our Lord: Give us grace so to follow your blessed saints in all virtuous and godly living, that we may come to those ineffable joys that you have prepared for those who truly love you; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who with you and the Holy Spirit lives and reigns, one God, in glory everlasting. Amen.
The First Lesson Isaiah 25:6-9
On this mountain the Lord of hosts will make for all peoples a feast of rich food, a feast of well-aged wines, of rich food filled with marrow, of well-aged wines strained clear.
And he will destroy on this mountain the shroud that is cast over all peoples, the sheet that is spread over all nations; he will swallow up death forever.
Then the Lord God will wipe away the tears from all faces, and the disgrace of his people he will take away from all the earth, for the Lord has spoken.
It will be said on that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, so that he might save us. This is the Lord for whom we have waited; let us be glad and rejoice in his salvation.
Lector The Word of the Lord. People Thanks be to God.

Hymn 293 “I sing a song of the saints of God” Grand Isle
The Second Lesson Revelation 21:1-6a
I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. And I saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying,
“See, the home of God is among mortals. He will dwell with them as their God; they will be his peoples, and God himself will be with them; he will wipe every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more; mourning and crying and pain will be no more, for the first things have passed away.”
And the one who was seated on the throne said, “See, I am making all things new.” Also he said, “Write this, for these words are trustworthy and true.” Then he said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end.”

The Holy Gospel John 11:32-44
Gospeler The Holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to John. People Glory to you, Lord Christ.
When Mary came where Jesus was and saw him, she knelt at his feet and said to him, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.” When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who came with her also weeping, he was greatly disturbed in spirit and deeply moved. He said, “Where have you laid him?” They said to him, “Lord, come and see.” Jesus began to weep. So the Jews said, “See how he loved him!” But some of them said, “Could not he who opened the eyes of the blind man have kept this man from dying?”
Then Jesus, again greatly disturbed, came to the tomb. It was a cave, and a stone was lying against it. Jesus said, “Take away the stone.” Martha, the sister of the dead man, said to him, “Lord, already there is a stench because he has been dead four days.” Jesus said to her, “Did I not tell you that if you believed, you would see the glory of God?” So they took away the stone. And Jesus looked upward and said, “Father, I thank you for having heard me. I knew that you always hear me, but I have said this for the sake of the crowd standing here, so that they may believe that you sent me.” When he had said this, he cried with a loud voice, “Lazarus, come out!” The dead man came out, his hands and feet bound with strips of cloth, and his face wrapped in a cloth. Jesus said to them, “Unbind him, and let him go.”
Gospeler The Gospel of the Lord. People Praise to you, Lord Christ.

Thanksgiving over the Water
Celebrant The Lord be with you. People And also with you.
Celebrant Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. People It is right to give him thanks and praise.
Celebrant We thank you, Almighty God, for the gift of water. Over it the Holy Spirit moved in the beginning of creation. Through it you led the children of Israel out of their bondage in Egypt into the land of promise. In it your Son Jesus received the baptism of John and was anointed by the Holy Spirit as the Messiah, the Christ, to lead us, through his death and resurrection, from the bondage of sin into everlasting life.
We thank you, Father, for the water of Baptism. In it we are buried with Christ in his death. By it we share in his resurrection. Through it we are reborn by the Holy Spirit. Therefore in joyful obedience to your Son, we bring into his fellowship those who come to him in faith, baptizing them in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
Now sanctify this water, we pray you, by the power of your Holy Spirit, that those who here are cleansed from sin and born again may continue for ever in the risen life of Jesus Christ our Savior. To him, to you, and to the Holy Spirit, be all honor and glory, now and for ever. Amen.
The Baptism
Celebrant I baptize you in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
You are sealed by the Holy Spirit in Baptism and marked as Christ’s own for ever. Amen.
Heavenly Father, we thank you that by water and the Holy Spirit you have bestowed upon these your servants the forgiveness of sin, and have raised them to the new life of grace. Sustain them, O Lord, in your Holy Spirit. Give them an inquiring and discerning heart, the courage to will and to persevere, a spirit to know and to love you, and the gift of joy and wonder in all your works. Amen.
Let us welcome the newly baptized.
All We receive you into the household of God. Confess the faith of Christ crucified, proclaim his resurrection, and share with us in his eternal priesthood.

The Offertory Sentence Celebrant
The Offertory Anthem “Give us the wings of faith” Ernest Bullock The Saint Paul’s Choir
Give us the wings of faith to rise within the veil and see the saints above, how great their joys, how great their glories be. We ask them whence their victory came; they, with one united breath, ascribe the conquest to the Lamb, their triumph to his death. They marked the footsteps that he trod, his zeal inspired their breast; and, following their incarnate God, they reached the promised rest. - Isaac Watts

The Great Thanksgiving Eucharistic Prayer B
Celebrant The Lord be with you. People And also with you.
Celebrant Lift up your hearts. People We lift them to the Lord.
Celebrant Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. People It is right to give him thanks and praise.
Celebrant It is right, and a good and joyful thing, always and everywhere to give thanks to you, Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth. For in the multitude of your saints you have surrounded us with great cloud of witness, that we might rejoice in their fellowship, and run with endurance the race that is set before us; and, together with them, receive the crown of glory that never fades away. Therefore we praise you, joining our voices with Angels and Archangels and with all the company of heaven, who for ever sing this hymn to proclaim the glory of your Name:

Praise God, from whom all bles sings- flow; praise him, all crea tures- here be -

Please kneel as you are able.
Celebrant We give thanks to you, O God, for the goodness and love which you have made known to us in creation; in the calling of Israel to be your people; in your Word spoken through the prophets; and above all in the Word made flesh, Jesus, your Son. For in these last days you sent him to be incarnate from the Virgin Mary, to be the Savior and Redeemer of the world. In him, you have delivered us from evil, and made us worthy to stand before you. In him, you have brought us out of error into truth, out of sin into righteousness, out of death into life.
On the night before he died for us, our Lord Jesus Christ took bread; and when he had given thanks to you, he broke it, and gave it to his disciples, and said, “Take, eat: This is my Body, which is given for you. Do this for the remembrance of me.”
After supper he took the cup of wine; and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, and said, “Drink this, all of you: This is my Blood of the new Covenant, which is shed for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Whenever you drink it, do this for the remembrance of me.”
Therefore, according to his command, O Father,
All We remember his death, We proclaim his resurrection, We await his coming in glory;
Celebrant And we offer our sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving to you, O Lord of all; presenting to you, from your creation, this bread and this wine.
We pray you, gracious God, to send your Holy Spirit upon these gifts that they may be the Sacrament of the Body of Christ and his Blood of the new Covenant. Unite us to your Son in his sacrifice, that we may be acceptable through him, being sanctified by the Holy Spirit. In the fullness of time, put all things in subjection under your Christ, and bring us to that heavenly country where, with Ted Feinman, Bill White, Tom Vanderhoff, Linda Cross, Loron Stripling, Fran Speer, Peter Heuberger, Douglas Plate, Henry Louttit, Lindsay Sturm, Lonnie Sevier, Laurie Swift, John Stone, Lynn Essig, Stewart Phinizy, Mary Speir, Frank Jordan, Bob Riley, Emmie Eubanks, Rachel Carroll, Mike Hearn, Marcus Clayton, Paulette Harris, Ramzi Assad, Robert "Bob" Hill Jr., Emily Beyea, Dana Harpley, Sylvia Littlejohn, Bettye Harrell, Norman Pursley, Debby Byers, Anthony Massaro, Ted Atwood, Charlotte Merry, John Dickey Boardman, Kaye Brown, John Crumrine, Frank Inman Hull, Keith Stocker, John Fish, Al Smith, George Hall, Julia Vagovic, Emily Middleton, Michael Buttler, David Penix, Robert Wilson, Jr., Dewey Toole, Al Adams, Porter Fleming, Karel Copenhaver, Kay Trischman, Sam Maguire, Trisha Brighamm, Erin Sussman, Patricia Dolan, William Miller, Adeline Jansen, Betty Jean Dorminey, Carolyn Dorminey Hackler, Mona Clayton, Clay Coleman, Jr., Dorothy Coleman, Anne Elliott, Herbert Elliott, Dick Manning, Stuart Anne Stuckey, Jean Wright, Jeanie Mayson, Carole Johnston, Clifford Johnston, Marilyn Johnston, James. Anthem Music by Bill Monroe, arranged by Eryn Eubanks “My last days on earth”
For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: And not to me only, but unto all them also that love His appearing. - 2 Timothy 4:6-8
Victoria Hammond and Melissa Larkin Schultz, Soloists The Saint Paul’s Choir
I see my time is drawing nigh; Soon I’ll bid this world goodbye; For my Lord above is calling me home; but I shall not travel alone. In heaven forever I’ll live; this life I’ll gladly give; I’ll fear not when my hour comes though it be my last days on earth. O death where is thy victory? Christ took away thy sting; He is the Way, the Truth, the Life; and He is why I sing. Lay this life down, take up my crown, forever and ever and ever I’ll live; I am soon blessed, haven of rest, forever and ever and ever I’ll live. I’ll fear not when my hour comes, though it be my last days on earth. - Words by Eryn Eubanks
The Post Communion Prayer Please kneel as you are able
All Almighty and everliving God, we thank you for feeding us with the spiritual food of the most precious Body and Blood of your Son our Savior Jesus Christ; and for assuring us in these holy mysteries that we are living members of the Body of your Son, and heirs of your eternal kingdom. And now, Father, send us out to do the work you have given us to do, to love and serve you as faithful witnesses of Christ our Lord. To him, to you, and to the Holy Spirit, be honor and glory, now and for ever. Amen.
