How Did McGill Do in the 2016-2017

Presenter
Presentation Notes
Here is how we did in the last competition. We didn’t do too badly but we would like to see the numbers go up. So we implemented a new timeline as you will have seen from the competition planner sent to you Speaker: review of agenda but before we get started I just wanted to share with you what was done since the last competition so far and what the plan is for this year. Right after the results were announced GPS emailed last year’s applicants that did not receive an award – We reached out to last year’s applicants asking them to reapply if still eligible and still interested. We also asked them to send us a copy of the letter their received from Banting. The letter contains the scores in each of the three criteria; this will help us determine which part of the application needs to be worked on. GPS will contact nominees to inform them of the writing workshops that will be available specifically for them. Yvonne could you give us a little more information on what GRAPHOS has to offer? Thank you Yvonne GPS is also aiming to provide supervisors with “writing workshop”

Presenter
Presentation Notes
As we all know the Banting Postdoctoral Fellowship is a competitive program. When reviewing the application the committee should carefully review the application guide, as well as the review guidelines for the selection committee. Both are posted on the Banting webpage Jo to add to this section give her experience with applications.

alumni now)Referee

Presentation Notes
Speaker: Instead of using a spreadsheet to submit information on candidate to GPS. This year we ask that you submit it on Fellowship Award Database (FAD). What is FAD FAD is an online database used by academic units to submit information on fellowships applicants (both recommended and non-recommended) to GPS's Fellowships Unit. This information includes, but is not limited to, student information, GPAs, unit, level of study, granting agency committee number (aka discipline code), and the outcome of the file review (recommended or not recommended). It is really ease to use and a manual is posted on GPS webpage with screen shots etc, it has drop down menus for most of the information that will be needed by us. will provide you with login name and password. Show how it works
