After the Pabst Brewery closed in Milwaukee in December 1996, it sat empty until 2001.

It was at that time that Jim Haertel received his accepted offer to purchase the Pabst Brewery on

September 11, 2001. Great care has been taken to ensure that Blue Ribbon Hall, The Great Hall,

Captain’s Courtyard, Captain’s Corner, Guest Center/Tap Room, King’s Courtyard, and the Gift

Shop have all been restored to their original glory.

Since the first phone call was placed inquiring about buying the property, the brewery is

once again full of life and laughter as "Best Place at the Historic Pabst Brewery" and is once

again open and ready to welcome you.

With your first step into Blue Ribbon Hall, you will instantly be transported back to time

when things were a little tougher and yet life was simpler. Experience a small piece of Americana

and enjoy yourself surrounded by Old World Charm and Hospitality.

BEST PLACE VENUE DESCRIPTIONS:

The Great Hall & Speakeasy

The Great Hall on the west end of Best Place is located in the former accounting offices of the original corporate headquarters built in 1880 and includes the former office of Captain Pabst. Also featured is a back bar from Cristanelli's Saloon in Norway, MI. Rumor has it that Henry Ford and Thomas Edison were frequent visitors to the bar. Below The Great Hall in the former infirmary is the Speakeasy, remodeled to resemble a pre-prohibition era tap room.

Blue Ribbon Hall With your first step into Blue Ribbon Hall, you will instantly be transported back to a time when things were a little tougher and yet life was simpler. Experience a piece of Americana history and enjoy yourself surrounded by Old World charm & hospitality. BRH is located in what was once a Milwaukee Public School built in 1858. Adjacent to BRH is the Stammtisch or Edgar Miller Room and overlooking the hall is the Jacob Best balcony.

Captain's Corner

Built in 1934, the Captain’s Corner, originally called the Guest Center, and was a welcoming area for guests of the brewery. It also served as the Best Place gift shop for many years. Now the Captain’s Corner serves as a quaint and cozy smaller venue space.

Captain's Courtyard The statue of Captain Frederick Pabst will welcome you into his courtyard, which is framed by the Guest Center/Tap Room, Captain’s Corner and Blue Ribbon Hall. Providing a great open air venue, enjoy the company of your friends during a warm summer evening, while tasting the coolness of a freshly poured beer.

King's Courtyard For more than a century, a statue of the good King Gambrinus, the legendary monarch of beer and brewing, reigned at the brewery. The original statue was carved out of wood in 1857 and in 1966 it was reproduced in aluminum. When the brewery closed in 1996 the statue also left. In 2011, Best Place was given permission to bring back the statue in all of its glory to its rightful home at the brewery.

EVENTS AT BEST PLACE - FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

May I see photographs of other events held here? Of course, simply go to the “Photos & Media” tab on our web site www.bestplacemilwaukee.com

and check out the “Weddings” and “Past Events” galleries. Where will we have access? Are there restrictions? You will have access to the area(s) or room(s) you rent & reserve. Is there ample parking for guests? Yes, street parking is available and there is a parking garage across the street. Do you provide a sound system, AV or PA system? We can provide a PA, Microphone, HD Projector, Screen and Sound System. Are there any restrictions on décor, photography, videography, and smoking or bar service?

No items are to be placed on the walls or hung from the ceilings (we suggest the use of easels). All displays located within Best Place cannot be changed or removed. The use of glitter, confetti, sequins, sequins-confetti or tinsel is prohibited. Tape, nails, tacks & staples are prohibited. Only enclosed candles are permitted. Fogging and bubble machines are not allowed. Photography and videography is allowed. Smoking is prohibited in all interior spaces. Best Place will provide the bartenders & alcohol.

Are there bar minimums or bar packages?

No, we have a consumption based bar to keep the BEST options available for your guests. We are flexible for the budget conscious client, ask for details.

Is there an onsite caterer? Are we required to use them? We do not have an in-house caterer, but we do have a preferred list of caterers that you must work with. Are there adequate restrooms that are handicap accessible? Yes Are there adequate electrical outlets for vendors? Yes Could other events be scheduled the same day?

Yes, we do have beer history tours but they will not conflict with any rental hall situation. There also may be another event in a different venue.

Is there a certain time when we must leave? You must leave at the agreed upon time per the contract. How far in advance must I book your services? We suggest as soon as possible as we are not such a well kept secret anymore. What is your cancellation policy? We will keep 25% the non-refundable deposit per the contract. Is a deposit required? If so, when and how much? Yes, a deposit of 25% is required to secure the date immediately. The full balance is due 10 days

prior to the event.

Is there a hotel or restaurant nearby? Yes, both, right across the street.
