Banner 9 Navigation Reference Guide

Application Navigator uses single sign-on to provide access to all Banner 9 administrative applications. The student, account receivable, financial aid, human resources, advancement, and finance modules are integrated and accessible using Banner 9 application navigator. Banner 9 is accessible using Google Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, and Microsoft Edge internet browser.

Banner 9 Terminology Banner 8’s INB Forms are defined as Banner 9 Admin Pages Banner 8’s Blocks on Forms are defined as Banner 9 Sections Banner 8’s Next Block from Key Block is defined as Banner 9 Go Button Banner 8’s Rollback is defined as Banner 9 Start Over Banner 8’s Query is defined as Banner 9 Filter

Banner 9 Application Navigator

The Menu Toggle icon expands the menu sidebar. The Dashboard icon redirects end users to the main page from any other page. The Applications icon displays Banner and My Banner Menu as well as any other installed Applications,

select a page to access it. The Search icon allows end users to search for Banner 9 admin pages by name (acronym or description). The Recently Opened icon displays a count of recently opened items and allows access to the selected

page. The Online Help icon accesses online help from any Banner 9 admin page. The Sign Out icon allows end users to sign out of Banner 9. The Search Box provides quick access to search for a Banner 9 admin page. The Keyboard Shortcuts provide quick access to navigate using keyboard shortcuts.

Searching Using Banner 9 In the search box or search icon, enter the search information using an acronym or description. The search options have been enhanced to simplify the navigation and searching admin pages. For example, view the below search criteria example using SHACRSE as an acronym and course as the description.

Admin Page Navigation Using Banner 9 The Page headers display an Admin page name, version and database instance such as PPRD or PROD. Click the Go button to access Admin Pages. The Start Over button allows users to roll back. The Insert, Delete, and Copy buttons are used to manipulate data records. The Filter button allows users to perform a simple or advanced query using a drop-down box feature. The Add and Retrieve button in the Page header connects to Banner Document Management (BDM) The Related button provides access to related Admin Pages. The Tools buttom provide a variety of option based on the Admin Page such as the below:

o Export – Extract data to Microsoft Excel o Item Properties – Defines Table and Field Informationo Options – Mirrors the options previously available

The below example displays the results of navigating to SPAIDEN “General Person” admin page using a sample student.

Banner 9 NotificationsNotifications provides informational messages, successful actions, errors or warning. There below examples are below:

Information notifications are displayed in Blue. Success notifications are displayed in Green. Warning notifications are displayed in Yellow. Error notifications are displayed in Red.
