Project Overview
•There are huge lists of banned book.•Your task is to find one and pick a stance.•You’ll pick a book, research it and present

• Pick three titles that interest you and find out more about these three Use the Library’s Database Use Shelfari (Amazon Site)
• From your three, pick one! (You may work with a partner on this!)
• Begin research: 3 articles (at least 1 on the topic of Censorship and at least 1 on your particular book, the third is your choice!)

Data Sheet Notes• Direct Quote: identical to the original; they
must match the source document word for word
• Paraphrase: involves putting a passage from source material into your own words. It is usually shorter than the original passage condensing it slightly.
• Summarize: involves putting the main idea(s) into your own words, including only the main point(s). It is shorter and takes a broad overview of the source material.

Schools should be for education. At present, they are only creativly so. They have attempted to serve an all-encompassing social function, trying to be all things to all people. In the process they have failed miserably at what they were originally formed to accomplish.• Example Direct Quote: Schools have been forced

• Example Paraphrase: Roger Sipher concludes his essay by insisting that schools have failed to fulfill their primary duty of education because they try to fill multiple social functions (2).
• Example Summary: Sipher believes schools need to refocus on just being educators.
