A constant source of innovation and charity for populations around the world, B’nai B’rith has founded hospitals, orphanages and senior housing communities; and launched disaster relief campaigns, child safety guides, tolerance education programs and countless other initiatives in the public interest. Our diversity and youth education initiatives are highlighted by our national tolerance education program, the Diverse Minds Writing Challenge. In the last decade, this scholarship competition for high school students has awarded more than $250,000 in college scholarships, published 32 original children’s books and distributed more than 32,000 books to schools and libraries in contest cities across the country, including New York. Dinesh Paliwal is president and chief executive officer of HARMAN, the premier connected technologies company with a workforce of 30,000 serving the automotive, consumer and enterprise markets. In March 2017, HARMAN became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd.

Paliwal has worked and lived in six countries on four continents, including the United States, China, Switzerland, Singapore, Australia and India. Prior to joining HARMAN, he spent 22 years with ABB Group where he last held the dual role of President of ABB Group with responsibility for the company’s global P&L, and Chairman and CEO of ABB North America.

In addition to the HARMAN Board, Paliwal serves on the boards of Bristol-Myers Squibb and Raytheon Company. He is a member of the CEO Business Roundtable and the U.S.-India CEO Forum, and serves on the corporate

advisory boards of The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, The Wilson Center and the India Business Advisory Council of Lincoln Center. He also serves on the board of directors of the U.S.-India Business Council (USIBC) and the Business Advisory Council of the Farmer School of Business, Miami University. Previously, he served on the boards of Tyco, ADT, the U.S.-China Business Council, the National Symphony Orchestra, and Embarq, and as chairman of ABB India. Paliwal acted as chairman of the National Foreign Trade Council, and he served as economic advisor to the governor of Guangdong province in China.

In 2014, Paliwal was named to Fortune magazine’s “Business Person of the Year” list and the following year, Yahoo! Finance included him on a short list of 5-star CEOs. In 2015, The T.J. Martell Foundation honored Paliwal with its music innovation award, and in 2016, he was honored by Breakthrough, a global nonprofit, for his contributions to advancing women’s causes. In 2017, Paliwal was awarded the Ellis Island Medal of Honor from The National Ethnic Coalition of Organizations (NECO).

Paliwal holds a master’s degree in engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Roorkee). He also earned master’s degrees in applied science and engineering and in business administration from Miami University of Ohio.
