Kingdom Minded Men

God didn’t save us to be safe but saved us to be dangerous

On March 7th, the United Methodist Men of the conference held their annual prayer breakfast at Eastern UMC, Baltimore, to celebrate Kingdom Minded Men. Eighty-seven men from 30 churches from all districts in the conference and a few sisters gathered to fellowship in a breakfast prepared by our brothers of the Baltimore Metropolitan District UMM, sang songs of praise let by Al Davis of Eastern UMC, lifted concerns lead by Dr. Gregory Parham of Queens Chapel UMM, Hampton Conway Jr., BWC President and Bryon Gould, BWC Prayer Advocate.

The morning message, “Everything changes when you bring it to Jesus,” given by Rev Mark Wamble, Pastor at St. Matthews and Sollers United Methodist Churches asked if kingdom minded men have done a good enough job for those who are sick and distressed. Kingdom minded men need to be more that the trustees of the church.

He reminded the men of Matthew’s (Matthews 14:13-21) account of Feeding the 5000 that the disciples problem was they were blessed with spiritual gifts, but something was holding them back. They were searching for the holy and only cared about their situation. In the remote places where we find Jesus we spend too much time for the people who are save. Rev Wamble challenged the men, “You need to give them [the save] to Jesus” and acknowledge, you “have the power to change lives through Jesus Christ. Miracles don’t sit still.” The message concluded that “God didn’t save us to be safe but saved us to be dangerous.” We need to share what Jesus has done for us by looking in the rear-view mirror of our life. Remember who we were and how Jesus changed us. Share this story with the community outside the walls of the church building.

A call for men to meet this challenged was given with laymen and pastors to step forward to lay hands on those who were called to be to accept this challenge that “I have the power to change lives through Jesus Christ.”

The event closed with the Eucharist served by the five pastors in attendance.
