Wood edges are not recom-mended on tables with wood-grain laminates becausematching of woodgrain lami-nate and natural, solid wood isnot guaranteed. For tables withwood edge profiles, alwaysspecify either laminates insolid colors or patterns orwood veneer surfaces.Tip: Because of natural varia-tions finished solid wood edgesmay vary slightly in tone orcharacter from each other orfrom the samples Coalesse produces. No guarantee can bemade of an absolutely exactmatch.

Standard veneer grain direc-tions–grain directions aredetermined by the size andshape of the table top. Refer tothe following guidelines forstandard grain directions.

Woodgrain runs parallel to thelength on rectangular and boattops that are 96"L or less.

Grain-matched veneer isavailable at an upcharge incases where you want thegrain direction and pattern tocontinue from one top to anadjacent ganged top. Coalessecan accommodate the continu-ation of veneer grain from oneganged top to the next inalmost all arrangements, usingone of three types of match-ing—end-matched, side-matched, and end-and-sidematched.

Same flitch veneer is alsoavailable for tables that requiresimilar graining and color, butwill not be ganged. For exam-ple, specify same flitch veneerfor two tables used in thesame room, but spaced apart.

Grain directions are designated in relation to the dominatedirection of the veneer—often referred to as the cathedral of theveneer. End-matched veneer refers to two pieces of veneer thatmatch at the end of the cathedral. Side matched veneer refers totwo pieces of veneer that match along the side of the cathedrals.

End-matched veneer is specified on tops that will be gangedwith the edges that are perpendicular to the grain directionbutted against each other.

On most tables that are 72"L x 30"W, the veneer grain directionwill be parallel to the 72" side. If you specify end-matched, theveneer grain on one 30" side of one table will continue on one30" side of the adjacent table.

Side matched veneer is specified on tops that will be gangedwith the edges that are parallel to the grain direction buttedagainst each other.

Flex gangers use a flexible loop that engages a hook to holdtwo adjacent table tops in place. No tools are required to stretchthe loop across the seam between two table edges and to con-nect it to the hook on the adjacent table. Loops that are not inuse can be secured to a parking hook.

Gangers and hooks are installed on the sides of the tables thatare going to be joined. You can specify end-to-end, side-to-side,or end-and-side arrangements.Tip: Not recommended for ganging table tops with wood self edges.

Field-installed flex ganger packages are available to add onsite to tables with vinyl edges or self-edged tables with tops thatare 1"- to 11⁄4"-thick. Specify one package for each seam.

Coalesse’s primarywood finish, Clarity, is a water-borne UV topcoat, which pro-tects the environment whileproviding exceptional durabilityand resistance to water andchemical stains. Due to naturalvariations in wood, finishedproducts may vary from sam-ples in color, texture, andgrain.

Wood is a natural material;slight variations occur inveneer texture, color, grainconfiguration, and stainacceptance. Stains applied to Coalessewood veneer table tops arestandard with the same staincolor applied to both the topand the solid hardwood edgeprofile. Coalesse strives toproduce a consistently highquality product and some natu-ral variation in color is to beexpected. This is especiallyapparent on natural woodswhich have no stain applied,for example 3525 NaturalMaple. This color variation isnormal and reflects the uniqueand natural properties ofwood. This should not be con-sidered a defect.

Laminate and solid phenolicshould be cleaned with soapand water. For stubbornstains, use a non-abrasivehousehold cleaner.

Veneers should be cleanedregularly with mild soap andwater and dried with a softcloth. To polish, use silicone-free household polishers. Use sparingly.Tip: Never use ammonia-basedcleaners or wax on wood surfaces.

Powder coat finishes ontable bases should be cleanedwith a liquid detergent andwater. Remove stubborn stainswith liquid cleanser, such asFormula 409.

Polished aluminum finisheson table bases should becleaned with a commercialpowder, liquid, or paste metalcleaner and polish. Follow themanufacturer’s directions.

Tables should be inspectedand maintained regularly bytightening screws and bolts,inspecting casters and glidesfor damage, and inspecting allmoving parts for damage andwear.
