At Ballenberg the looms and mills are rattling away in full swing, while jars, hats, bobbin lace and baskets are being created in the workshops. In the farmhouses there’s cooking and baking. The staff of the Open-Air Museum are happy to answer your questions. There are plenty of places where you can try things out or join in, as well as purchase the unique handicrafts and delicacies.

Horse carriage ridesWould you like to ride in a horse-drawn carriage? Just let the staff at the cash desk know, or talk directly to the coachman (+41 76 699 25 52). The price is calculated according to the route taken. Carriage rides depart from the Alter Bären restaurant (311).
People with disabilitiesThe Museum Map indicates the buildings that are wheel-chair-accessible, as well as the gradients of the paths. On request, wheelchairs are available at the entrances upon request, and a special all-terrain wheelchair (CHF 25) is available at the West Entrance. They must be reserved in advance by phoning +41 33 952 10 25.
DogsFour-legged friends are welcome in the museum, but we ask you to keep them on a short lead. Dogs are admitted free of charge.

Great Diversity: The Vegetable and Herb Gardens at BallenbergThe wide variety of vegetable and herb gardens on the Ballenberg is unique in Switzerland.
Visit the Garden Kitchen in the Farmhouse from Villars- Bramard, Vaud (531), where fresh, preserved and pickled in-gredients are prepared according to traditional recipes.
The Garden Workshop in the Farmhouse from Oster mun-digen, Berne (331) gives participants a hands-on experience at weekends and during school holidays.
