    Particulars of Organization, Functions & Duties [Section-4 (1) (b) (i)]

    Objective/ Purpose of the Public Authority:

    The objective/purpose of this ULB (Public Authority) is to provide basic Amenities to its citizensutilizing its income sources derived from Taxation and Govt. grants.

    Mission/ Vision :

    The mission/vision statement of the Public Authority is very clear so far providing basic amenities tothe public is concerned with an expectation from the public (rate- payers) to co-operate with thePublic Authority in terms of timely payment of dues of the Public Authority and other duties as andwhen notified or published through public media.

    Brief History of the Public Authority and Context of its Formation:

    The Public Authority was established in the year 1876 consisting of 31 Wards, comprising 19.43 Sq.Miles in area.

    Duties of the Public Authority:

    It is the duty of the Public Authority to look into the health, sanitation and overall wellbeing of itsinhabitants on the face of the resources Available with it.

    Main Activities/ Functions of the Public Authority:

    The main functions/activities of the Public Authority are to collect revenue and utilize the sametowards public health, sanitation, conser-vancy, convenience, education and other deve-lopmentalworks.

    List of Services Being Provided by the Public Authority with a Brief Write-up on them:

    List of services provided include lifting of garbage, cleaning of roads and drains, street lighting,construction and maintenance of roads, drains, culverts, dispensing medicine to the poor, reliefmeasures during calamities, entertainment through public parks and gardens, Community Centers,Kalyan Mandap etc.

    Expectation of the Public Authority from the Public for Enhancing its Effectiveness andEfficiency:

    Being a Local Body administered and governed by the local people through their representatives,various problems encountered are discussed and solutions made. Hence such interaction of ideas ofpublic with the Public Authority is expected in enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of the Public

    Authority in its day-to-day administration.

    Arrangements/ Methods Made for Seeking Public Participation/ Contribution:

    Public participation/ contribution is sought for when necessary in the greater interest of publicthrough public media and public representatives.

    Mechanism Available for Monitoring the Service Delivery and Public GrievanceResolution:

    Public grievances are attended on priority basis and properly monitored.
